Nearly a year after his devastating car crash, Nelson Thomas has announced his decision regarding an amputation of his problematic foot.

On March 5, 2023, Nelson’s involvement in a fiery car crash in Austin, Texas changed his life. After being trapped in his crumpled car, Nelson was rescued by NFL player K.J. Osborn and three other passersby. According to TMZ, Nelson reportedly had “bloodshot, glossy eyes.” After initially blaming a swerving car in front of him, the MTV star admitted that he “only had 2-3 mixed alcoholic drinks.” Following an investigation, police officers charged Nelson with a DUI in October 2023. He reportedly had a blood alcohol content of .178.

Nelson sustained serious yet non-life-threatening injuries as a result of the crash. The injuries have created a long and costly medical battle for Nelson, who has undergone several surgeries. But after weighing his options, Nelson has made a permanent decision regarding his health battle.
