Ali Kaminetsky is the woman who founded Modern Picnic, which is pitching its Lunchers to the sharks on Shark Tank this week. Ali founded her brand in 2018 when she was 25 as a way to update the lunch box to offer something to a businesswoman looking to add some style to their daily lunches.
Her plan when creating the lunchers was to bring something both fashionable and practical to the table for modern working women. She said that she was a recent college grad on a budget and wanted something chic and practical to take her lunches to work. Not only that, but Ali wanted to make the lunchboxes out of organic fabrics and practical ethical manufacturing.
Since she released her products, several publications have promoted the lunch boxes. This includes The New York Times, Cosmopolitan, Harper’s Bazaar, Vogue, and more. “I remember the day so clearly. It was a Cosmopolitan feature. I think I bought 10 copies of the magazine. Seeing my product in print for the first time was surreal. I was ecstatic,” Ali said (The Avid Pen).

The Modern Picnic Luncher itself runs $169. It comes in nine different colors (Black Wicker, White Wicker, Brown Wicker, Black Croc, Navy Croc, Black, Cream Croc, Black Lizard, and Red Croc). Some colors come at a discount, such as the Red Croc, which is only $120.
There is also a tote for $250. It comes in five different colors and is made of a vegan leather exterior with a removable insulated pouch that keeps food separate from other essentials. There is also a Food Container, which runs $20.
