I Am Shauna Rea - TLC (Twitter) X

I Am Shauna Rae aired for two seasons on TLC, and viewers saw the hardships that very small people experience. Recently, Shauna (24,) did a Q&A and elaborated on bullying at school. If you don’t know, she has pituitary dwarfism so she described her life as being “trapped in the body of an eight-year-old.”

Shauna Rae Faces A Lot Of Difficulty

When fans first met Shauna in Season 1 of I Am Shauna Rae, they learned that she fell ill with cancer as a baby. While she survived, it damaged her pituitary gland and stunted her growth. So, as a fully grown adult, she only stood  3’10”. Of course, that created problems for her as people thought she was a kid, and they still do.

While I Am Shauna Rae focused on her attempts to find a boyfriend who wasn’t a weirdo, TLC fans also learned that her mom seemed to fear letting her become independent. In her mind, her daughter was still a child. So, things became very complex. This week, the TLC star opened up about some terrible experiences as a child at school.

Struggles Of Being Small & Bullied At School

On Instagram, Shauna recently opened up about the challenges she faced as a child. A lot of her reel involved how she didn’t cope well with “criticism.” In her caption, she explained:

Negative criticism now is nothing, but growing up it almost ruined me. It’s why I took a step back to find myself. It’s why social media breaks are important to me.

Shauna Rae talked about how it took her time to get used the the fact that people would “make fun” of her through her “entire life.” And, making fun of her saw her once “picked up and dragged almost to the boys’ bathroom.” So, she struggled with making friends, which seems understandable.

In the comments section, many TLC fans who watched I Am Shauna Rae stepped up to encourage her.
