Is ‘The Office’ Coming Back? Latest On Possible Reboot
Ever since The Office ended its run back in 2013, fans of the mockumentary have been clamoring for more of the gang from Dunder Mifflin Paper Company. Now, there have been some developments.
Could The Office be coming back?
Is There A Reboot Of The Office Coming?
Over the weekend, there were a lot of rumors that there could be a reboot of The Office. On Monday, Deadline reported that the “expansion” of this “universe appears to be getting closer to becoming a reality.”
The news is that on Tuesday, Greg Daniels is “setting up a development room.” Daniels developed the series for American television based on the Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant British series.
In this development room, Daniels will work with “his trusted writers” and start throwing some ideas around for “a follow-up series.”
Back in 2018, NBC was working on a “continuation” of the series that included both new and old characters. But, that never panned out. Therefore, this big move may not result in anything concrete.

This Is A Potential Series, Not A Reboot
One detail from the recent report is a clarification. This is not a reboot of The Office. Instead, this is described as a “potential new series.” The general thought is that this new series will take place in a new office. Moreover, there will be new characters.
However, they will “live within the same world” as the Dunder Mifflin Paper Company. This could offer the potential for some familiar faces to return for a cameo or guest appearance.
The main ensemble cast included Steve Carell, John Krasinski, Rainn Wilson, B.J. Novak, Jenna Fischer, Angela Kinsey, Mindy Kaling, Leslie David Baker, Melora Hardin, Kate Flannery, Phyllis Smith, Brian Baumgartner, Ed Helms, Oscar Nuñez, and Craig Robinson.
While some of the stars are not interested in reprising their roles, there will certainly be some familiar faces that will want to return, should there be a new series. But, will it be back at Scranton?
In addition, the idea of morphing Dudler Mifflin from a paper company to something totally different like Smart Home Services could create a cornucopia of humorous situations and the need for these characters to show up.

Steve Carell Didn’t Think The Office Would Work Now
While fans are cheering at the notion of The Office returning as a new series, Steve Carell has said that he didn’t think people would be so receptive to this sort of humor now.
Speaking to TV Line, Carell said, “It might be impossible to do that show today and have people accept it the way it was accepted 10 years ago.”
We will have to see if they can make the impossible happen.
All nine seasons of The Office is available to stream on Peacock.
Office fans, would you like to see that universe return to NBC?
