Why Isn’t Travis Kelce With Taylor Swift at Golden Globes?
Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce seem to have supported each other completely since they started dating. Taylor has been at Travis’ NFL games and he has been at her concerts. However, that all changed for the Golden Globes. Travis will not be with Taylor at the ceremony on Sunday night, where she is up for an award.
Here is why Kelce is not with Taylor at the Golden Globes tonight.
Travis Kelce skipping out on Golden Globes tonight
Travis Kelce won’t be at the Golden Globes tonight with his girlfriend Taylor Swift. While the couple has been with each other at many events since they started dating in the middle of 2023, this time, other circumstances were keeping the NFL star from accompanying Taylor to the event. While both are in Los Angeles during the event, Kelce has other things on his plate.
Kelce and his Kansas City Chiefs have clinched a playoff spot and clinched the AFC West. That means, win or lose, they are set for the playoffs. The only thing that the Chiefs have to play for in Week 18 is what position they officially have in the playoffs. With that in mind, the Chiefs are resting their main stars, including Patrick Mahomes. While no one mentioned Travis, there is no chance he plays either.
However, the team will remain together and supportive of the backups in their final game today against the Los Angeles Chargers. As per team requirements, when the game ends, the team will remain together and then travel back to Kansas City together after the game. According to Page Six, Travis will be “busy gearing up for the NFL playoffs season” and will not attend the Golden Globes with Taylor Swift.
Taylor Swift has nominations at the Golden Globes
Taylor Swift is attending the Golden Globes ceremony as she is nominated for a brand-new category. The new category is called the Cinematic and Box Office Achievement Award and Swift has a nomination for her concert movie Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour. The movie made more than $250 million at the box office and this would be Swift’s first-ever Golden Globe win if she pulls it out.
The competition is not just music movies. She faces Barbie, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, John Wick: Chapter 4, Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part 1, Oppenheimer, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, and The Super Mario Bros. Movie. These awards are for blockbuster movies that made over $150 million worldwide and $100 million domestically.
Previously, Taylor Swift picked up four Golden Globes nominations, but she never won. She was nominated in 2013 for “Safe & Sound” from The Hunger Games. In 2014, she picked up a nomination for “Sweeter Than Fiction” from One Chance. In 2020, she earned a nomination for “Beautiful Ghosts” from Cats. Finally, last year, she earned a nomination for “Carolina” from the movie Where The Crawdads Sing.
