Derek Hough Expresses Gratitude Amid Chaotic End To 2023
Dancing With The Stars judge Derek Hough hasn’t had the easiest time lately. During his Symphony of Dance Tour, his wife Hayley Erbert had a medical emergency and required immediate skull surgery. The couple canceled the rest of the tour effective immediately so Hayley could rest and Derek could care for her.
Even though 2023 had a rocky ending for the couple, Derek still found plenty of things to be thankful for. He shared a touching Instagram post on New Year’s Eve that touched many of his loved ones and fans.

Derek Hough found the light in the darkest moments
By now, most DWTS fans have been regularly checking in with Derek’s social media pages. He provides updates on Hayley’s condition and thanks fans for their prayers.
Around Christmas, he shared one of the first photos of Hayley since her surgery. They embraced one another in front of their Christmas tree, thankful to have each other.
Now, Derek is reflecting on 2023 and expressing gratitude for the positive moments.
“2023 In the face of uncertainty, this year has been a canvas of reflection, painted with the colors of life’s challenges and joys. From creative passion projects to the unforgettable celebration of love at our Jack and Jill bash. Embarking on a national tour, a whirlwind of planning, creating, and performing for thousands,” Derek Hough began his post. He attached a highlight reel of all the events and experiences he enjoyed during 2023.

He went on to express gratitude for his role on Dancing With The Stars, as well as the chance to honor the late Len Goodman.
“The pinnacle of this year’s journey was committing our love to one another in a breathtaking fairytale wedding, followed by an enchanting honeymoon in Italy,” he continued. “These experiences are treasures of gratitude, reminding us of life’s splendor and its fleeting nature. Each day of our extraordinary journey teaches us to cherish every fleeting moment.”

Derek’s younger sister Julianne left a touching comment on the post.
She wrote, “Moments are made in to memories, memories make up our lived experiences and our experiences shape us in to our future selves. This year has been an extraordinary one that has changed all of us who have been in your orbit! Love you two so much and grateful to be doing this life together ❤️”
“The most beautiful love and life. You and Hayls exude joy, love and light in all aspects of life. Thank you for sharing with us and I’m grateful to be connected to the both of you in this lifetime, ❤️” DWTS pro Britt Stewart added.
Several other followers left positive wishes for the couple for 2024.
