‘1000-Lb Sisters’ Amy Halterman Felt Like ‘Used Gum’ Amid Split
1000-Lb Sisters fans know that Amy Halterman and her husband Michael already divorced. But as the current season airs, viewers are watching the split play out onscreen. And it’s not at all pretty.
Fans are only three episodes into the season so far, but there’s been plenty of ugly words exchanged between Michael and Amy. During this week’s episode, Amy broke down in tears and demanded a divorce. Michael refused to let her leave or even give her access to her debit card. The police showed up to de-escalate the situation, but it’s clear the drama is far from over.
During the episode, fans really felt for Amy as she described feeling like a used piece of gum. What exactly did she say and how did fans react?
Amy Halterman walks away from Michael in this week’s episode
Leaving an unhappy marriage is never an easy feat. But Amy Halterman made the courageous decision to walk away from Michael Halterman in this week’s episode.
TLC shared a preview of Tuesday night’s episode on Instagram. Amy’s sisters did their best to cheer her up, especially Amanda. But Amy’s words really broke fans’ hearts.
“I told him over and over again, if you don’t change, I’m going to leave. I used to be the glue that held the whole family together, but now I’m just a used piece of gum,” Amy shared in the new episode. As the tears felt, she joked that someone had stuck her on the bottom of a dirty shoe.

After leaving Michael, Tammy shared that Amy was welcome to stay with her as long as needed. After all the help and support Amy offered her in the past, Tammy wanted to return the favor.
