The One Tree Hill alum shocked fans that this was going to be more than a chaste kiss, as is typical in these frothy romances. However, Sarah Drew penned and executive produced this groundbreaking movie, and what viewers saw was exactly in the script.

Will Lifetime Make More Steamy Movies Like Jana Kramer’s Christmas Movie?
This Christmas, one of the most talked about movies was Jana Kramer’s It’s A Wonderful Lifetime movie A Cowboy Christmas Romance. Lifetime ventured out into new territory when they made this movie that included a very sensual and steamy love scene. This NSFW scene was the first on the network, showing much more than the typical chaste kiss at the end of the movie.
Kramer, who portrays real estate closer Lexie Crenshaw, returns to her small Arizona hometown to get the deal done. She needs to convince hunky rancher Coby Mason, played by Adam Senn, to sign over his land. Although the two start out as adversaries, that anger soon turns into a very passionate encounter. This is unlike anything ever shown on Lifetime.
Now that Lifetime has opened up that door, will they make more movies with NSFW scenes?
According to TV Insider, they will. They spoke to Tia Maggini, Lifetime’s Senior Vice President of Scripted Content. The ratings for A Cowboy Christmas Romance showed that viewers wanted this steamier content.
We were delighted that the audiences showed up for A Cowboy Christmas Romance, proving once again that women love cowboys and women love romance–especially when they’re together!
Maggini then shared what Lifetime viewers should expect in the future. “We’re committed to continuing to make family-friendly movies that celebrate the magic of Christmas–snow, hot cocoa, mistletoe, and more–and hopefully more movies that speak to ladies looking for slightly more mature themes, too.”
