‘Golden Bachelor’ How Did Ellen Goltzer Cure Her Infection?
Ellen Goltzer almost missed her chance to be on The Golden Bachelor because she got a bad infection and it disfigured her face. Actually, it also sounded rather painful. However, her late friend Roberta Zaktzer encouraged her not to pull out. How did she get it cured just in time to make it to the ABC show? Read on to find out.
Ellen Goltzer Honored Roberta Who Helped Her With Infection
Roberta passed away before the premiere and when Ellen told Jesse Palmer about her friend, he started leaking tears. At the time, a lot of people claimed that he seemed like a much better host than Chris Harrison. He seemed to genuinely care about Roberta. Remember, she had applied with Ellen but didn’t live to see the episodes of The Golden Bachelor.
Ellen Goltzer seemed particularly close to Roberta and hoped that she had made her friend proud. However, that opportunity to tell Gerry Turner that she was falling in love with him, nearly didn’t happen at all. The reason was a bad infection. And, it was Roberta who encouraged her not to give up on getting it sorted out before filming The Golden Bachelor.

How Was The Infection Cleared Up?
A few days ago, Gerry Turner’s one-time love interest spoke with the Ben & Ashley Almost Famous podcast. There she dished her tale of how she almost missed appearing in front of the cameras because of her very bad infection. Fox News cited her as saying:
I never told anybody this… I developed an abscess on my cheek, and it was three weeks before I was supposed to go. It was really like a golf ball… Roberta kept saying to me the whole time…’never say never.”
Ellen Goltzer tried everything and nearly gave up the idea of appearing in Gerry Turner’s season on ABC. Caused by an infection, the big mass just would not go away. But, the Golden Bachelor contestant’s friend Roberta, would not let her give up. With her urging, Ellen sought help from doctors in Florida. However, she said that they “couldn’t help.”
Eventually, the ABC star went back to New York, and there her “dermatologist” was able to help her. Mind you, it was a narrow window for healing because it wasn’t totally healed. Ellen Gotzer said that she used “makeup” to hide it.
