Mama June Shannon is currently mourning the death of her daughter Anna ‘Chickadee’ Cardwell. The death of her daughter, however, has not resulted in her going dark on social media. Instead, she’s spending a lot of time live-streaming on TikTok. And, her behavior has fans a bit concerned.
Furthermore, the content she’s been posting has caused fans to call her sobriety into question. In search of answers, fans of the reality TV star started a thread on Reddit to bluntly ask if she was sober.

Mama June Shannon’s Sobriety Questioned By Fans
In a new thread on a subReddit community dedicated to Mama June and her family, one fan asks if the reality TV star is sober. The OP of the thread did offer their reasoning as to why they were questioning her sobriety.
I have only seen a few of her videos and she seems high. I’m not sure if it’s the wanky lashes or her vision issues but her eyes barely look open. I wonder if she’s drinking because of her face being red and swollen.
One fan gave a cheeky response to the question noting that if the OP needed to ask, Mama June probably wasn’t sober. Here’s what other fans had to say about it:
- “They are at minimum smoking weed.”
- “Imo, with the videos she keeps posting no. She is not sober.”
- “Absolutely not and hasn’t been for a little while at least, based on her behavior online for a while now and also just the facts having a sick daughter & her daughter dying.”
Taking Anna’s Death Too Well?
One fan noted they believed Mama June Shannon was taking the death of Anna a little too well. Sadly, they suspected this was because she was self-medicating to mourn the death of her daughter.
Now, fans do sympathize with her situation. They, however, also fear for her granddaughter, Kaitlyn, who is currently in her care. Some fans noted they hoped Mama June was being drug tested before Kaitlyn was left in her care.
One fan penned: “She seems to be taking the death of her daughter a little too well, and I chalked it up to her self-medicating with drugs again. I can’t really judge her though because if I was going through that I’m not sure what I would do to cope.”
A few fans admit they worried Mama June might’ve got her hands on Anna’s leftover medication after she passed away.
Defending Mama June Shannon
Not everyone suspected Mama June of being intoxicated. Some argued a red and puffy face could easily be explained as someone crying a lot because their daughter passed away. Likewise, some fans argued her skin and vision issues can explain some of what fans are seeing as well.
