Leslie Fhima Thought She Found Mr. Right On Golden Bachelor
The entire premise of The Golden Bachelor is to help seniors find someone to spend their golden years with. Gerry Turner was on a quest to do just that but ended up breaking some hearts along the way.
The deepest heartbreak came when it was time to send one of his final two contestants home. While proposing to Theresa Nist was a happy occasion, he had to let Leslie down easily.
However, if what she’s said since the finale about promises he made to her is true, there was no easy way about it.
The Minneapolis native reflected on her journey with Gerry Turner in the January/February edition of the Minnesota Monthly.
Gerry broke up with Leslie in her hotel room the night before the final rose ceremony. “I was shocked at his choice at the end, so I assume some viewers were, too,” she said about being sent home.
She also revealed that viewers didn’t see her full connection to the 72-year-old widower. “My moments with Gerry were very special, and there were more conversations we had that were not shown. We laughed a lot, which is very important to me.”
Leslie called the editing “disappointing, but understandable” due to the show only being an hour.

Leslie Fhima is still picking up the pieces of her broken heart.
While she was a fan favorite from the beginning, some fans soured on her toward the end. She seemingly alluded to that during the interview. “I was emotional at times, even though I sometimes tried not to be. Feelings came like a train, and I couldn’t stop it. I wear my heart on my sleeve, I always have. Maybe that’s not always the best thing, but it’s who I am, for better or worse.”
Leslie was definitely aware of the chatter about her hair. “I wore my hair natural a lot and it seems to be the talk of the internet, apparently not in a good way,” she quipped.
During one part of the interview, she was asked for her thoughts on a Golden Bachelorette reboot. Her answer hinted that she hadn’t moved on from Gerry Turner blindsiding her by ending their relationship.
“I would not change the process, but I would be very careful with people’s hearts,” Leslie said about the rumored spinoff.
