Anna Cardwell’s Husband Opens Up About Her Tragic Last Days
June Shannon’s oldest daughter Anna Cardwell lost her battle with stage four adrenal carcinoma on December 9, 2023. During their time of mourning, many family members have updated fans through social media posts and spoken to the press.
Recently, Anna’s husband Eldridge Toney opened up about her final days. Although Anna’s cancer battle was incredibly frightening, she went surrounded by her loving family.

Anna Cardwell experienced a lot of pain near the end
Eldridge Toney told PEOPLE that Anna did everything in her power to keep a brave face on for her family members, including her two young daughters. Sadly, she experienced a lot of lower back pain and had to take several medications to manage it.
“…but when it was just the two of us, it was hard not to break down,” Eldridge said. Anna’s cancer battle certainly took a toll on him, even though he did his best to be strong for her as well. He also revealed that he was with Anna up until the very end and held her hand as she passed away.
Sadly, the family will now have to adjust to a new sense of normalcy without her. But as for her husband, he has a hard time picturing his future without her by his side.
“She was the one I was supposed to grow old with,” Eldridge continued. “She was my one true love, she was that for me. I will never stop loving her. There will never be another Anna.”
The couple knew Anna’s diagnosis was serious from the beginning. But even so, they chose not to ask the doctors about her life expectancy. Instead, they chose to make the most of every day they had together.
In addition to Eldridge and her mother and sisters, Anna Cardwell also leaves behind her two daughters, Kaitlyn Elizabeth and Kylee Madison.
The family invited the family to grieve with them
Most of Mama June’s fans were absolutely heartbroken to hear that Anna Cardwell passed away after battling cancer. However, some are now a bit more critical of the family. Several fans pointed out that some family members are making quite a spectacle of Anna’s death.
The family made the funeral a public event and invited fans. And on top of that, film crews documented Anna’s fight. It does not appear that they filmed the funeral, however.
