Dr. Smith Gets Emotional Over Tammy Slaton Leaving Rehab
1000-Lb Sisters cast member Dr. Smith became very emotional while watching the season premiere this week. Like many other viewers, he was overwhelmed with joy to see Tammy Slaton step outside the rehab facility and on to the next chapter of her life.

Dr. Smith praises Tammy Slaton’s journey on the show
When 1000-Lb Sisters returned to TLC this week, fans felt stunned. Tammy Slaton was finally able to leave rehab after 14 months in the facility. Without a doubt, it was a majorly life-changing moment for the TLC star.
Many viewers felt emotional over the situation, including Tammy’s physician, Dr. Smith. He posted on social media encouraging others to watch the new season and left kind words for Tammy too.
“Still an emotional moment for me watching @queentammy86 leave the rehab facility,” Dr. Smith captioned his Instagram post. He included a clip of himself watching the new episode and beaming at the screen. “You’re 100% right @queentammy86…YOU DID IT! Who else is watching the season premiere of @tlc’s #1000lbsisters tonight?”

“I pray you know how much we love and appreciate you. You forever changed our lives! Eternally thankful for you!” Tammy’s older sister Amanda Halterman wrote in the comments.
“[Not] many doctors have the compassion and dedication you have towards your patients,” another Instagram user added.
“A TEAM effort in everyone’s part, Congratulations! Tammy, I’m very proud of you. … Dr. Smith, you are amazing and thanks for not giving up on Tammy ❤️” someone else chimed in.
The 1000-Lb Sisters cast makes big moves
Tammy and her family members are excited that 1000-Lb Sisters is back on TLC. But that’s not the only thing they have to celebrate right now. The reality star also just announced that she and her sister Amy Halterman will be on the cover of PEOPLE this week. The women sat for an interview with the publication to talk about their journey so far.
“I guess one of the big changes I have gone through this past year is probably small to most people, but for me it was huge. And it was just being able to walk without a walker or being pushed in a wheelchair,” Tammy explained in the interview.
Without a doubt, big things are on the horizon for the family. Dr. Smith and the family’s fans couldn’t be prouder.
