‘Today’ Al Roker Has New Shocking Career Direction
In a surprising move, Al Roker has announced that his career as a TV personality won’t be the only thing that will be paying the bills.
The Today Show host revealed in a December 8 Instagram post that his Morning Show Murders book series will be getting a re-release in 2024. The fictional series with a murderous twist was Roker’s first venture outside of non-fiction writing.
The series revolves around Billy Blessing, owner of the popular Manhattan restaurant, Blessing’s Bistro. Billy is a regular contributor on the morning news show, Wake Up, America! With his popularity expanding, Billy creates his very own cooking competition show.
But it isn’t long before he finds himself clashing with Rudy Gallagher, the executive producer of the show. After an explosive argument, the two men look to settle the score. But when Rudy is found dead in his apartment, Billy becomes the prime suspect in the murder. In an attempt to clear his name, Billy investigates the events that led to Rudy’s death.
Al Roker’s Career As An Author
The Morning Show Murders was first released in 2009. After enjoying modest success, Roker and co-author Dick Lochte released The Midnight Show Murders just a year later. In 2011, the series’ third entry The Talk Show Murders was released.
After a 13-year hiatus, it appears that Billy Blessing will be attempting to solve yet another murder. Roker took to social media to announce that the fourth entry in his series, Murder on Demand, will be released in April 2024. The first three entries will also be re-released starting in January.
“Billy Blessing is back!” wrote Roker in his Instagram post. “I’m excited to share that The Morning Show Murders series will be re-released beginning in January 2024 with a completely new, redesigned cover through @blackstonepublishing. Written by myself and @dicklochte — and kindly dubbed a “funny, funny, very funny mystery” by @jamespattersonbooks — the series combines the magic of morning show television with the charm of your favorite murder mysteries.”
Roker finished his post by teasing the release of his new book. “Haven’t read them yet? Now’s your chance! This mystery will keep you wanting more, which is perfect since we are adding a brand new fourth book to the series: MURDER ON DEMAND, releasing on April 23rd! Preorder today to get a jump-start on your cozy morning mysteries,” he wrote.
Fans React To Roker’s Announcement
In response to Roker’s announcement, fans showed their support by offering their praise for the murder-mystery series. “YES!!! I cannot wait and the new one will be available for my birthday (ish)! Congratulations on another release,” wrote one fan under Roker’s Instagram post.
“It looks like I’ll be adding something new to the Roker & Roberts section of my book shelf,” commented a second fan.
“Yes! Hopefully that means a new Hallmark movie too,” wrote another fan.
Based on Roker’s novels, Hallmark created the Morning Show Mysteries franchise, starring Holly Robinson Peete as Belinda “Billie” Blessings. Spanning across six films, the franchise debuted in 2018 with Morning Show Mysteries: Mortal Mishaps. The franchise also stars Rick Fox and Tara Wilson.
