Keep reading to see her reasons.

Counting On: Jinger Duggar Explains Her Reason Why She Didn’t Participate

Jinger recently uploaded a vlog where she opened up about the reason why she didn’t participate in Shiny Happy People. According to the Counting On alum, she would have no editing power if she sat down and talked about such things on someone else’s platform. “And that’s what I was a little unsure about,” she added.

The 29-year-old also said that most of the things in the docuseries are true. But she’d still prefer to tell the story in her own words. It seems that Jinger is trying to be careful not to hurt any of her family members. “I just didn’t want to speak to IBLP in that context,” she added.

Jinger Says Her Book Already Tells Her Side Of The Story

Aside from worrying about the edits, Jinger Duggar also said that her side of the story is already in her book, “Becoming Free Indeed.” “I thought it would be best for me just to be able to tell my own story how I wanted, and for those viewing it, they wouldn’t see it through a bad lens,” the former Counting On star said.

Shiny Happy People was released in June of this year. It took a deeper dive into the Duggar family’s church, the IBLP. There were also bombshells included in the documentary, such as Jill and Derick Dillard’s allegations of Jim Bob’s controlling behavior.

Counting On: Will Jinger Duggar Risk Her Relationship With The Family?

It also appears that Jinger wants to protect her relationship with her family in Arkansas, which is why she didn’t take part in the docuseries. Jim Bob and Michelle have already addressed Shiny Happy People. According to the Counting On alums, they think that the series was “derogatory and sensationalized.” They also added that they wanted to repair their damaged relationships in a private setting. “We love each member of our family and will continue to do all we can to have a good relationship with each one,” the parents added.

Jinger Duggar remains in touch with her family in Arkansas today. She has spent time with them multiple times this year, and it seems that she has no intentions of disentangling herself from them.
