Josh Duggar’s Christmas Behind Bars: Food, Carnival, & More

As TLC’s Counting On fans know, Josh Duggar was found guilty of both possession and receipt of child pornography back in December 2021. It was not until May of last year that he was officially sentenced for his crimes.

Despite maintaining he is innocent, Josh Duggar was sentenced to 12 and a half years behind bars. Presently, Michelle and Jim Bob Duggar’s son’s release date is slated for October 2, 2032. As fans know, however, a lot can change between now and then.

With Christmas 2023 fast approaching, some Counting On fans are wondering what Christmas behind bars looks like for Josh Duggar. What’s on the menu that day as far as food goes? Will the inmates do anything to celebrate Christmas? Keep reading for the inside scoop on what Josh can expect from Christmas behind bars.

Josh Duggar’s Christmas Behind Bars: Food, Activities, & More

According to InTouch Weekly,  FCI Seagoville in Seagoville, Texas does not completely ignore the holidays. In fact, Josh Duggar and the other inmates will get to enjoy special holiday meals on Christmas. Here’s what they can expect from breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

  • For breakfast: “hot oatmeal, breakfast cake of whole wheat bread, fresh fruit, and coffee”
  • For lunch: “a baked cornish hen, pork ham, mashed potatoes, corn casserole, dinner rolls and a holiday pie”
  • For dinner: “deli sandwich, potato chips, dessert and fruit, whole wheat bread, and a beverage”

Holiday-Themed Recreational Activities

In honor of Christmas, FCI Seagoville in Seagoville, Texas goes all out with a grocery list of different holiday-themed recreational activities for Josh Duggar and the other inmates to enjoy. Some of the activities include spades, dominoes, cornhole, and horseshoes.

The facility also hosts a special carnival-style cluster of activities called the “Recreational Reindeer Games” for the inmates each year. According to InTouch Weekly, the inmates can earn “consumable incentives” for participating in the various carnival games. Some of the carnival games include knocking down cans, put-put golf, and basketball free throws.

Nurturing Josh Duggar’s Mental Health?

While federal prison is not intended to be a spa or an enjoyable experience, there is some level of importance to nurturing mental health during the holidays. Being away from loved ones during the holidays can be especially difficult for inmates like Josh Duggar. So, the “Recreational Reindeer Games” and the holiday-themed menu are intended to help combat mental health struggles by offering a fun distraction.

Naturally, many individuals believe Josh Duggar and the other inmates should not be offered this holiday celebration. Duggar fans especially argue that Josh did the crime. So, he deserves to get all of the punishment that comes with it including celebrating Christmas alone.
