‘SYTYCD’ Returns, Teases New ‘DWTS’ Judges
So You Think You Can Dance is returning for a brand new season on Fox!
After disappearing from the network during the height of the pandemic, So You Think You Can Dance returned in 2022 with different judges. Now, ahead of Season 18, Fox has announced they’re shaking up the judges’ table yet again.
There will be one familiar face rejoining the judges’ table, and a few new ones too. According to recent reports, a few former Dancing With The Stars pros are happily joining the cast!
SYTYCD is coming back and fans are excited
So You Think You Can Dance fans are rejoicing over news of the show’s renewal. And that’s not all. Sources reveal that former judge Nigel Lythgoe will return to his spot at the judges’ table. But that’s not the only exciting news.
There will be former Dancing With The Stars pros joining the table as well, as TVLine.com confirms.
Fan-favorite former DWTS pro Maks Chmerkovskiy will join the judges as the hopeful contestants compete for the title of “America’s Favorite Dancer.” He competed on 17 seasons of Dancing With The Stars over the years, winning the Mirrorball Trophy with Meryl Davis in Season 18. Maks also judged the Ukrainian version of DWTS before evacuating the country during the Russian invasion.
Allison Holker will step into her late husband’s role behind the judges’ table. Stephen “tWitch” Boss was the SYTYCD runner-up during Season 4 and went on to be a mentor and all-star on the show. He was a judge on Season 17, which wrapped up shortly before his death in December 2022. Allison was part of the SYTYCD Season 2 cast and went on to be a pro dancer on four seasons of Dancing With The Stars.

When can fans catch the season premiere?
SYTYCD Season 18 kicks off at 9 PM Eastern time on Monday, March 4, 2024.
“So You Think You Can Dance is television’s preeminent dance competition, and we are thrilled to bring the beloved show back for an all-new season,” a representative from Fox said in an official statement. “Reuniting Cat, Nigel, Allison and Comfort, and welcoming Maksim into the SYTYCD family, is sure to make Season 18 bigger than ever for their legions of fans around the globe.”
On top of that, TVLine.com writes that this season will feature new twists and challenges. Season 18 will give each contestant a glimpse of what the life of a professional dancer looks like. The contestants will have to participate in half-time shows, music videos, and so much more.
And with Maks Chmerkovskiy sitting at the judges’ table, things could get pretty intense! Fans are excited to see what he and Allison Holker bring to the table.
