GH: Roger Howarth Speaks Out
Roger Howarth has had the honor of playing three different characters over more than three decades on General Hospital. Sadly, his character, Austin Gatlin-Holt, was killed on Friday’s episode of the long-running soap opera. According to producers, axing Roger’s character was a necessary move to keep the storyline progressing forward.
Speaking to Soap Opera Digest, Roger Howarth broke his silence on his character being axed from the show. He also shared his feelings on his contract not being renewed. Furthermore, the actor was also told that fans were deeply upset by the lack of development the character had.
Roger told the publication that he understood the question. He, however, didn’t feel like there was any bad blood in the decision to axe his character.
I don’t feel like I’ve been slighted in any way or that there was bad juju around these decisions. I think that the writers and the producers and the directors work really hard to entertain a really loyal and dedicated audience and I hope that they succeed in thrilling the audience for another 60 years.
So Austin/RH overstayed his welcome soo bad that he cant get a proper send off? Like his body just gona be found weeks later #GH Im mad at Austin too for the way he did Ava but dang😪😪

On Twitter, many General Hospital fans agree there are several cast members they would approve of seeing axed from the show. Roger Howarth, however, was not on the list. Several tagged official social media profiles for the soap opera and begged producers to find a creative way to bring the actor back.
Responding to the news, one individual admitted they don’t even watch General Hospital and they knew axing Roger Howarth from the cast was a huge mistake.
If #GH is smart enough to bring #RogerHowarth back, A) they’d be lucky to get him back & 2) they should fix the mess they made with Austin. Develop the character & write for him, make him a real Q, fix his relationship w/Ava, and stop isolating him.@nathanvarni @valentinifrank
