REKKIE on Shark Tank was created when one of its founders, Henry, ended up separated from the rest of his group. He took what he thought was a shortcut through some trees, and after 10 minutes, he ended up on another run that he was unfamiliar with. Because of poor reception, there was no way of finding out where the rest of his party was, and he realized he could end up taking more than an hour on the mountain to find his group. He came up with the idea for his company at that time.
In a similar way that players in a videogame can see where their friends are with a small map in the corner of the screen, he figured he could integrate that into ski goggles. REKKIE found a way to add a heads-up display that is there when a person needs it and is out of the way when they don’t. REKKIE stands for “reconnaissance,” which is British military slang. This allows people in the mountains to know where their friends are if they end up separated.
There are four people involved. Henry designs the hardware and is someone who is hiking more often than not. Anderson wrote the software and built the REKKIE app. Fletcher is the sole rider of the group, and he deals with sales, financing, and accounting. Finally, David is in charge of manufacturing, marketing, and operations.

Once on the site, a pair of REKKIE Smart Snow Goggles runs $349. There is also the chance to get them in four installment payments or in a longer installment agreement for $31.50 a month. There are also swappable lenses in different colors for $29 to $39 each.
