Dean McDermott Regrets Impulsive Choice That Traumatized Family
Recently, Dean McDermott has broken the silence about the events that led to the end of his and Beverly Hills 90210 alum, Tori Spelling’s split. During his interview with the Daily Mail, Dean confesses he regrets the effect of his actions. Specifically, he reflects on his impulsive choice to announce the split being a traumatic disruption for the family.
Dean McDermott Drops The Bomb
Earlier this year in June, the couple called it quits. At this point, Dean McDermott made an impulsive post on Instagram stating their 18-year marriage was coming to an end. Notably, he said that the two would be going their separate ways and see where individual life would take them. But it wasn’t until later he recognized how it took Tori Spelling and the kids off guard. Unfortunately, this left the family traumatically devasted. However, Dean has begun to talk about the issues in his recent public interview with the Daily Mail.
Dean McDermott Talks About The Night Of The Post
Admittedly, Dean McDermott’s post came when he was in deep turmoil. Saying, “I posted that because I was at the end of my rope. I had burned everything down yet again.” Although Dean can acknowledge the timing was wrong, he also says, “It was the night that I raged against her and the children.” Continuing he reveals, “and I saw the light, the final flicker of the flame go out in her eyes.” Notably, he was struggling with substance abuse issues during this time.
Dean Didn’t Understand How It Would Hit The Family
However, when Dean McDermott took the step of posting the split on social media, he didn’t understand the effect it would have on Tori Spelling and his kids. Sadly, he says he came to his senses and later deleted the post, but the damage had already occurred. Regrettably, he expresses, “I was literally at my wit’s end.” Continuing, “That night, I was drinking and I was into my pills. After I sent the post, I took some more pills, and I took six or seven Ambien in the hopes that I would not wake up.” But, in retrospect, he is very thankful the attempt wasn’t successful. Undoubtedly, it would have caused a great deal of pain for the family.
His Mistake Still Led To Some Positive Change
While Dean McDermott knows this wasn’t the right way to break the news, he also credits that it “got people’s attention.” And the statement assisted him in reaching people who could get him help. Dean reflects, “It fell in the ears of people I wanted it to fall into.” Additionally, he says, “I was so full of shame and it was such a horrible idea. And then my kids were really, really hurt.” In many ways, he needed this to hit rock bottom. At this point, Tori Spelling reportedly asked him to seek treatment.
