After missing last week thanks to the World Series, The Masked Singer returned this week for a brand-new episode. Not only that, but four new singers and new costumes showed up on the show. While one of them went home, three contestants lived to sing another day, including Anteater.

Here is what we know about Anteater on The Masked Singer and who we think is under the mask based on the clues.

Anteater performs on The Masked Singer

The most recent episode of The Masked Singer saw four new contestants hit the stage. It was “One Hit Wonders Night” where all the songs were considered one-hit wonders by musical artists. Group C consisted of Anteater, Donut, Candelabra, and Hibiscus. The loser on this night was Hibiscus, who unmasked as Real Housewives of New York City star Luann de Lesseps. She lost out in the Smackdown to Anteater.

As for Anteater, he came out to start off his Masked Singer performance this season with the Marc Cohn song “Walking in Memphis.” He was shorter and both Jenny McCarthy-Wahlberg and Robin Thicke said he was a “little guy.”

As for his clue package. it showed him standing in front of a red barn with a pair of signs. The signs read “Gi-Ant Sale” and “Ant Farms For Sale.” Anteater then was on a yacht and admitted he had a long career but learned that fame isn’t everything. He also played guitar on the yacht and said his career got him houses, cars, and rocking on yachts with “the glitterati.” However, he also said that fame took its toll. A cougar scared him in the clues package and he said he fell into “bad business deals.”

Anteater then said he traded his houses for “a chicken coop” and he started a family. He said life is about redefining himself and it ended with a windmill spinning. There was also a final clue revealed after he sang. It was a karaoke machine playing Rockwell’s “Somebody’s Watching Me.” He said that he once performed “in front of 40% of the entire world.”

Who is Anteater on The Masked Singer?

When it came to The Masked Singer judges. there were some wild guesses, as usual.  However, they also pointed out some things in the clues that made them believe this was a star from the 1980s. Robin Thicke said that the only event that was seen by 40% of the world was Live Aid. Both Jenny and Ken Jeung also thought this was a star from the 80s.

Ken guessed Rick Springfield. Jenny thought it was John Mellencamp. Nicole Scherzinger guessed Bryan Adams. Out of those three guesses, both Adams and Springfield performed at Live Aid.

However, we think that Anteater is John Oates of the 80s band Hall & Oates. John lives on a farm in Colorado and he had left music full-time when he met his wife. The band has a song called “Maneater” which could play into the Anteater name. Hall & Oates played at Live Aid. In his biography, Change of Seasons, Oates said that despite selling 80 million albums, he was broke by 1987 (via PEOPLE). He also owned four homes, several antique cars, and a plane when he learned he was out of money.
