‘Golden Bachelor’ Fans Furious Over Gerry Turner’s Behavior
Golden Bachelor fans are furious over Gerry Turner’s behavior. What did he do to upset viewers after weeks of praise? Keep reading for all the details.
Golden Bachelor A Hit With Viewers
ABC teased a senior spinoff of The Bachelor back in 2020, but it took three years for it to make it to screens. In July 2023, the network announced Gerry Turner as the first Golden Bachelor.
The 72-year-old retiree lost his wife of 40+ years in 2017. The show picked 22 women between the ages of 60 and 75 to hopefully find a match with Turner.
The Golden Bachelor was an immediate hit with viewers. Many Bachelor Nation fans found it refreshing that all of the women were there “for the right reasons” and not social media fame.
Deadline reported earlier this month that the Sept. 28th premiere hit over 7 million viewers, including live viewers and streaming.
Gerry Turner Chooses His Final Three
Just a month after its premiere, The Golden Bachelor has gone from 22 contestants down to just three.
Gerry Turner must now choose between Faith Martin, Leslie Fhima, and Theresa Nist. Hometown Dates ended in a cliffhanger, as Turner was conflicted about who to send home.
Fans will have to wait to see the resolution, as the Women Tell All special airs next week. Click here to see the full schedule for the remaining Golden Bachelor episodes.
Fans Furious With Gerry Turner
In the first few weeks, viewers couldn’t get enough of “wholesome” Gerry Turner and his attentiveness to his contestants. However, some fans are furious with him after the latest episode. What happened?
As the contestants twindle and feelings become real, many of the women express their love to the lead. However, the unspoken rule in Bachelor Nation is that the lead shouldn’t say “I Love You” to any of the women until the final one.
That rule has been broken in the past to disastrous results. Gerry Turner fell short of fans’ expectations by saying those three little words to not one but two of his three final contestants.
Gerry Turner told both Faith Martin and Leslie Fhima that he loved them, and many fans weren’t happy about it.
Viewers took to Twitter to share their reaction to Turner’s mistake. One Twitter user couldn’t help but wonder, “Gerry married his high school sweetheart so… is this his hoe phase?”
Another poster wrote, “He went from mourning widower to playa in six weeks.”
I can’t take Gerry seriously. He went from mourning widower to playa in six weeks. Now that he sees he can get chicks, i can see him wanting to get others after #GoldenBachelor

Another viewer used the frustration meme of Ben Affleck to express how they felt when Turner said “I Love You” multiple times.

One Bachelor Nation fan used Clayton Echard as an example of why it was a bad move. Echard famously told all three of his final women that he loved them and was later intimate with two out of three of them during the Fantasy Suite dates.
Nooooo Gerry they should have made you watch Clayton’s season to see how saying I love you to every woman ends up #TheGoldenBachelor #GoldenBachelor pic.twitter.com/BPGHFvDU78
