GMA hosts are reportedly being forced out.

A source spoke with Page Six about some big changes going on behind the scenes with the talk show. The insider said, “Part of moving to this very expensive building is they want GMA to give up the Times Square Studios lease.” Where would the new studio be? Parent company Disney wants to move away from Times Square to New York’s Hudson Square neighborhood.

According to the source, the new studio may not have windows, which would no longer give fans the opportunity to look in at the show going on. They continued, “It may be in the basement! The talent and producers are not happy about it [and] it leaves advantage to Today.” Additionally, there may be no outdoor space at the studio.

Another insider offered more information about this huge change. They claimed that this change is still very much in the works and it isn’t likely to happen until 2025. They added, “It’s the news business. Everyone’s focused more on tomorrow than next month.”

Some of the staff are already expressing their true feelings about the move. ABC News president Kim Godwin reportedly “tried to fight” it in hopes of staying in Times Square.

While there are some downsides to this move, there are some potential benefits. For one, the entire team will have the opportunity to be in the same building. Currently, the staff is divided between a couple of different spots.

The second source added, “The city is the set. It’s exciting that Disney is investing in a new state-of-the-art building, which will be great for the show.”
