It has been a few weeks since Season 5 of Love Is Blind started dropping new episodes on Netflix. The show is officially engulfed in some new controversy after a cast member from the new season filed a shocking lawsuit against the production crew of the Netflix reality series. Netflix’s Love Is Blind Season 5 Star Files SHOCKING Lawsuit

A participant of Season 5 named Tran Dang has filed a surprising lawsuit against the producers of the Netflix series. In her lawsuit, she claims she was assaulted during her time on the show. Moreover, she believes her assault was likely caught on camera.

Now, those who follow news related to Netflix’s Love Is Blind know this isn’t the first time a cast member has filed a lawsuit. A previous member claimed the show offered “inhumane working conditions” and the pay was “substandard.”

Cast members claim production provides contestants with plenty of alcohol. But, they are not offered nearly as much actual food. Moreover, contestants claim they have to get permission from the production crew to leave and use the bathroom.

Deadline reports Tran Dang, from Season 5, has filed a lawsuit accusing Thomas Smith of assaulting her. She claims the attack happened during the “Mexico vacation.” Her lawsuit notes that the contestants agree to be watched by cameras 24 hours a day when they sign up for the show. So, she suspected “most if not all of these traumatic acts were filmed by the production crew and within their knowledge.”

The lawsuit confirms Tran Dang and Thomas Smith did get engaged. The assault allegedly occurred on May 3, 2022. The lawsuit was filed on August 16th, 2022. The details of the lawsuit, however, are only now being picked up by media outlets.

Netflix’s Production Team Responds

Kinetic Content and Delirium TV are two production companies named in the lawsuit. In the lawsuit, the Season 5 cast member of Love Is Blind claims production tried to mask what happened.

Kinetic Content and Delirium TV issued a joint statement responding to the allegations to People Magazine. The statement noted that in no way do they want to diminish victims of assault. They, however, argue that the claims she has made against the production team are “meritless.”

We document the independent choices of adults who volunteer to participate in a social experiment. Their journey is not scripted, nor is it filmed around the clock. We have no knowledge or control over what occurs in private living spaces when not filming, and participants may choose to end their journey at any time.”

Furthermore, the statement claims the cast member never told production about the assault. Likewise, she continued to film for weeks after she claimed the assault happened.

Chris Coelen, the creator of the show, also issued a statement. He noted the Season 5 Love In Blind cast member never told anyone she was feeling uncomfortable.

Ben Allen, her lawyer, claims the production team is presently trying to throw money at the problem.
