When Kelly Ripa appears on the Live with Kelly and Mark talk show, she’s often lighthearted, but this week, she opened up about menopause. It came on her podcast, Let’s Talk Off Camera With Kelly Ripa.

During Live with Kelly and Mark, the mom of three kids is often flirty, or she engages in suggestive hints about their intimate life. However, she’s not that way inclined during her podcasts. There, she talked about “Couples Therapy” with Dr. Orna Guralnik. Many people enjoy that sort of thing because they relate to it.

Another interesting podcast saw Senator Amy Klobuchar discuss bipartisan politics. Kelly Ripa sometimes brings humor during her podcast, and there is laughter, make no mistake about that. However, fans like hearing her discussions without all the distractions of the audience. In her latest podcast, which you can listen to at the end of this article, menopause was the subject of the day.

In a very candid conversation, the Live host discussed menopause with Dr. Erika Schwartz who was a “pioneer” in hormonal changes. In her introduction, Mark’s wife went straight into her feelings about growing older. Straight as an arrow, she admitted, “I love not getting my period.”

Kelly Ripa talked about the common fear of starting a period on the day that she “wore white” clothing. Actually, any light clothing could produce mortifying embarrassment. So, she said that she used to “be terrified to wear white pants.” When her menopause set in, she wore light-colored clothing all the time. Plus, she admitted that she started during the pandemic.

The Dark Ages

Kelly Ripa said that she wanted to discuss the subject because people really don’t talk about it. In fact, she used the term, “whispers” to describe how quiet people are about their hormonal changes in later life. And, Dr. Erika Schwartz agreed that it’s still very much a hidden subject, noting it’s like “the Dark Ages.”

Page Six noted that the talk show host mentioned that her friends often feel intimidated about discussing it, and sometimes, it’s considered “embarrassing.” Meanwhile, as evidenced by Mark’s wife, life doesn’t come to a scary end.

Fans of Live commented, and they seemed happy to hear a candid conversation. One of them said, “THANK YOU! I’m also 53 and going thru menopause. Excellent topic!”

Then a second listener wrote, “Great information. I really needed this 8 years ago. But I’m so happy I got to listen to this.”
