‘General Hospital’ Fans Livid Over Schedule Change
General Hospital fans are livid over an upcoming schedule change. Soap operas have been extremely reliable, even during the WGA strike. General Hospital Fans Livid Over Schedule Change
It seems like soap operas always air, even on holidays. Yes, they may show old episodes from past holidays for posterity but they are extremely reliable. One of the most predictable soaps is General Hospital which airs Monday through Friday on ABC. However, the long-running show is taking three days off this coming week and fans are not happy. So, what is causing this disruption and what are viewers saying? They started a Reddit thread to express their frustration over the show not airing and they were clearly unhappy.
Per the OP: “This is all due to ABC airing the MLB playoffs.” Hence General Hospital won’t be shown on Tuesday 10/3 through Thursday 10/5. One Redditor immediately chimed in with this: “I’ve watched ABC soaps since 1977 and it doesn’t matter what time GH comes on, it’s going to get interrupted and preempted. If they had it one at 10 in the morning, it would still happen. A few weeks ago they interrupted the last 10 minutes of the show. I was so mad!” Another was just bummed because it was being taken over by sports. Finally, someone thanked the OP for the heads up.
This helps so that others won’t be searching for the show or recording it while at work and then mad when it is not there. As for what to expect for the two episodes airing, here is the description for Monday, 10/2: “Valentin confers with Martin, Kevin shares his theory, and Laura is insistent. Meanwhile, Anna voices her suspicions, and Gladys is in the hot seat.” For Friday, 10/6, it is: “Michael and Willow ponder a decision, Carly is shaken, and Anna makes a request. Meanwhile, Nina shares news with Valentin, and Kristina is filled with anticipation.”
Sadness & Tragedy
The cast of General Hospital has been through a lot lately. John J. York aka Mac Scorpio revealed he was battling cancer. At the same time, former cast member, Billy Miller tragically took his own life. So, it has been a struggle for the cast and now they are coming out of the fog. York revealed that they believe they have found a match so that is the bright side of all of this. As for the fans, it is really hard when they depend on their daily soaps to get them through. Fortunately, it is just three days.

MLB??Major league baseball is something that not everyone enjoys. Can GH put our show on during the night so we can at least tape it then? Not much on tv in the late hours anyway. That should be a way to make everyone happy. I watch 3 soaps every day, GH, B&B, and Y&R. These other shows can make adjustments. Why can’t GH? I am so disappointed. Especaiily right now when SO much is going on.
I thought there were sports channels. Why can’t you put them on a sports channel and leave daytime and primetime ALONE!!!!
Our channnels are invaded by Sports ALL WEEKEND LONG!!!! Save the simple one hour during the week ALONE!!! If its not Biden and his worthless speeches——-its sports.
I agree. Baseball is not even on right now. What is going on? Yesterday’s was a rerun, and now today another. Stinks. It was already going to be interrupted by the 2:20 fema alarm. Let me see what else is on. Netflix.

It’s nothing new They always pick on GH while other stations don’t It’s so UNFAIR. It’s like GH IS not important at all. GH should move to another channel. One that thanks more of them that the current station.
It’s Always GH that gets cancelled. It doesn’t matter what the issue is.Whether it’s a news bulletin sports game or public service notice that doesn’t even happen where we live.This is SO stupid for a TV station!!!

well as a GH fan I understand that they are going through something and by all means need a day off. It would be nice if they let the fans know a head of time like how they let us know when bad weather is coming. I also agree with the fans why do they always interrupt GH 😞

I’m so sick of GH being interrupted every time “breaking news” happens! And it’s usually not breaking news. It’s repeated again in the evening. And interrupting it for sports!! NO! If we wanted to watch sports we would watch it, but not during GH!!! And bring Jason back…!

Stop preempting GH. I never watch sports because I find them boring and wouldn’t watch them if you paid me. I am, however, paying every month to watch tv and want to see GH in full 5 days a week.

I don’t understand the need to cancel or interrupt soap operas. There are 24 hour news channels for breaking news. There are a couple of channels just for weather. There are a ton of channels for sports enthusiasts who, for some reason, are encouraged to act like drunken idiots all the time – while everyone looks down at soap fans as if the thing we happen to like is somehow more insipid than grown men throwing balls from some place to another. Don’t the TV execs realize that we know what we want to watch – and if we wanted to watch news or weather or sports, we’d probably be on a different channel? Further, there’s this new thing called the internet. If ABC just can’t see their way clear to airing our show, why can’t they post the episode? I work during the day, so I always watch mine on Hulu the next day. By the time I watch, the thing that caused the interruption is already long over.
When ABC tells us that our show is always the unimportant one that can be canceled or interrupted if there’s so much as a breeze in the air, what they’re telling the viewers is that we’re not very important customers. Badly done, ABC.
