Why Are ‘AGT’ Fans Irate Over Vote?
Anyone who has been following America’s Got Talent knows that there have been a few hiccups this year. While there is a huge amount of talent being showcased, there is also a bit of drama. One mishap left Simon Cowell scolding producers about their choice in a previous episode. And now, fans are irate about the Instant Save Vote turnout.
Sorting Out The AGT Controversy
During a performance by Trailer Flowers, Simon Cowell became very pointed at the decisions made by producers. After a debacle that stemmed from Howie Mandel’s shenanigans, Simon couldn’t hold back. Once the duet had completed their song, Terry Crews called out Howie Mandel for a sneaky move. It created a big fuss and then led to Simon pushing back on the way things were handled. Now, just a day later, AGT is getting more pushback for the way they handled the Instant Save.

Final Acts
The last two acts are chosen with the unique AGT Instant Save. It combines the judges’ expertise and the fans’ excitement in the deliberation. With this in mind, fans get the chance to save one eliminated contestant with an Instant Save vote. Still, this option is only available after each of the four judges has chosen from previously eliminated contestants.
For the Instant Save lineup, Howie Mandel chose Avantgardey, Heidi Klum picked Herwan Legaillard, Sofia Vergara’s vote was her golden buzzer pick Gabriel Henrique, and Simon Cowell chose Chioma & the Atlanta Drum Academy. Chioma & the Atlanta Drum Academy was Terry Crews’ golden buzzer pick earlier this season. Following Crews’ reveal of the selections, America had five minutes to go on the AGT App or NBC.com to cast a vote.
Why Do AGT Fans Feel Cheated?
In this case, a Japanese dance group Avantgardey, won the Instant Save. However, fans were not happy about the voting process. Undeniably, complaints streamed in about it only giving voters five minutes to decide. While Reba McEntire and Sofie Dossi performed during Wednesday’s live show, the voting was open. But the window of opportunity was small.
A viewer commented, “So sad the app failed and closed the save vote score it started. Get it right. So sad and unfair.” Another said, “Honestly they gave everyone 5 mins to vote for that wild card and that’s not nearly enough time. that’s probably why we got a shocking result at the end.” Unfortunately, social media exploded with furious reactions after Avantgardey beat out singer Gabriel Henrique. A viewer said, “Gabriel Henrique got robbed! He should be in the Finale!” Also, voiced was, “Worst audience in the history of reality shows. Gabriel Henrique is the best!”
Tune in for AGT‘s live finale airs next Tuesday at 9 pm ET on NBC or stream live on Fubo.
