Hallmark may have hired a new showrunner for WCTH Season 10, but the same old love triangle has been re-intensified and causing strife in Hearties nation. What is making Team Nathan fans believe that Elizabeth is dumping Lucas for the shy Mountie?

Moreover, why has this intensified with the recent When Calls The HeartDeep Water” episode previews?

Is Elizabeth Dumping Lucas For Nathan In WCTH Season 10?

Throughout WCTH Season 10, there has been a revival of Team Nathan and some hostility online on whether Elizabeth (Erin Krakow) will dump Lucas (Chris McNally) for Nathan (Kevin McGarry). Why is this?

One fan put it succinctly on one fan group. “In the last few episodes there was no chemistry between Lucas and Elizabeth, or talk of prep for their wedding. The way Elizabeth is showing emotion towards Nathan seems to make me think a big change will happen.”

In other words, Elizabeth seems to have her biggest moments with Nathan, not with Lucas in most of When Calls The Heart Season 10. But, in the past few episodes, the promo photos of Elizabeth are mainly of her talking to the dreamy Mountie. Moreover, Elizabeth and Nathan are having more heart-to-heart conversations.

This has led to strife in the Hearties community. Most of all, it has brought back the dreaded love triangle that everyone hated. Worst of all, social media has not been a friendly place for Team Lucas.

When Calls The Heart Writing Team Resurrected The Dreaded Love Triangle

One big question is whether or not the WCTH writing team really considered what they were doing. As this is a period piece, any sort of attraction between two people will be subtle. Moreover, a woman from that era, especially an engaged woman, would really not have the sort of intimate conversation with a man who was once courting her. Therein lies the confusion.

But, are the Hallmark writers to blame?

On Twitter, movie reviewer and Hallmarkies podcast host Rachel Wagner posted, “I can’t believe the geniuses over at When Calls The Heart have managed to resurrect the love triangle without doing anything but Nathan and Elizabeth talk. Bonkers. Later, she posted, “Never has a show created so much fan trauma with so little fuel.”

In another post, one fan pointed out, “This was an unnecessary direction to take the story. It is very upsetting to the fans and it opens up the nastiness from the past. It is shocking.”

Firstly, it is unlikely that the writers intended to open up the love triangle debate. But, if they had shown Faith (Andrea Brooks) and Nathan’s relationship onscreen, instead of off, this whole debacle may have been avoided.

Most of all, fans who love LucaBeth are very concerned about their lack of romantic time together. An engaged couple should be talking about their future together.

Instead, the Hope Valley school teacher is showed in a preview video freaking out over Nathan possibly being hurt. In shock, Elizabeth tells Henry (Martin Cummins) “I can’t do this again.” However, is this about Nathan or could it be PTSD over Jack (Daniel Lissing)?

Will Elizabeth dump Lucas for Nathan? Only Hearties who watch until the end of the season will know for sure.

Don’t miss the premiere of WCTH Season 10, Episode 9 “Deep Water,” on Sunday, September 24, at 9 p.m., Eastern, on the Hallmark Channel.

  1. If they change the storyline to push Lucas out I will not watch any more. Hallmark movies in general are getting more silly and less entertaining every week. Give us some good romantic movies. Not the same old boy meets girl they fall for each other and then one of them has a problem and they threaten to break up then get back together. Enough of that nonsense!!
