Former Counting On star Jill Dillard’s husband, Derick, is fighting for abuse victims daily. He and Jill opened up about the important work he’s doing and how he’s making a difference in the lives of others. Keep reading to find out what the couple shared in their latest interview.
Duggar Daughter Opens Up About New Book & More
This week, Jill was interviewed exclusively by People. The Duggar daughter talked about her new book, Counting the Cost, which hits shelves on September 12. The book details her experience on TLC and some of the ups and downs she’s faced. She has been promoting it heavily on social media over the past couple of months.
In the interview, she also discussed several other important topics, including how her parents and TLC affected her marriage.
Naturally, the topic of Jill’s brother, Josh Duggar, came up. The eldest Duggar son is currently behind bars on child pornography crimes. In the interview, Jill explained that she still feels upset and angry, but she’s found a positive way to use her anger.
In addition to Josh’s crimes, Jill discussed her own lawsuit. She and three of her sisters sued the individuals who released a police report against their wishes. The report included details of Josh’s molestations years ago. Now, the lawsuit has been dropped.

Derick and Jill relocated from Arkansas to Oklahoma in 2022. Derick now works as an assistant district attorney.
While discussing her feelings toward Josh and about the lawsuit, Jill Dillard shared how she wants to make a difference in victims’ lives.
She said, “You have to just say, ‘You know what? Even though this system failed us as victims and our desire for justice, and all of these people who just used and abused their positions and were not held accountable, we are still going to fight for victims’ rights through Derick’s line of work.”
Then, Derick shared how he’s trying to make an impact. He opened up to People and explained, “I work with victims now every day and try and make sure the same thing doesn’t happen to them. We want to try and protect them, and actually try and make sure that we can follow up and be genuine when we say, ‘This is a safe place.'”
So, while Jill is still hurting, she wants to turn things around and use her pain for good. It sounds like she and Derick are both on the right track.
