A statement was posted on Jimmy Buffet’s website early Saturday morning confirming the singer passed away.
“Jimmy passed away peacefully on the night of September 1st surrounded by his family, friends, music and dogs. He lived his life like a song till the very last breath and will be missed beyond measure by so many.”
Sadly, the statement did not clarify exactly what Jimmy’s cause of death was. But, the statement did give fans of his music peace of mind. He was surrounded by his loved ones and his furbabies at the time of his death. And, he passed away peacefully.
Social media activity, however, did confirm the singer had to reschedule some of his performances because he was battling an illness. Likewise, he had also reportedly been hospitalized recently. The exact details of what was wrong with him were not released. But, given his age, his fans understood.

There is no denying Jimmy Buffett was an incredibly talented musician. He received nominations for several Grammy Awards during his career. And, he was the recipient of several Country Music Awards. It was in the 1970s, however, that he really rose to fame.
His breakthrough hit was “Margaritaville”. The song launched him from beach bum to a billionaire singing sensation. Today, the enchanting song is classified as being of the “island escapism” genre. Furthermore, it is a staple on the song lists at hit vacation spots. The incredible tune is a cultural phenomenon. Notably, it inspired a chain of Margaritaville-themed restaurants. In addition, it inspired merchandise.
