Season 6 of Expedition X recently kicked off, but it didn’t appear on Discovery Plus to stream like fans expected and now we know why.

Expedition X host Jessica Chobot took to social media to explain the bizarre absence. And she shared her frustration with fans, explaining that things are out of her hands. If you’ve been eagerly awaiting Season 6 only to find it still missing from Discovery Plus, you’re not alone. Here’s what we know about why the show isn’t available to stream for many, and when you can expect to find it.

Ex-X Usually Investigates Mysteries Instead Of Creating Them

Expedition X is one of those shows that you may have never heard of, but once you watch it you can never stop.

It was put together by explorer Josh Gates, known for his adventure documentary show Expedition Unknown. For Discovery‘s Ex-X, Josh put together a team of inquisitive explorers to look into mysteries that go beyond the world as we know it. Hosted by Jessica Chobot and Phil Torres, Expedition X is the kind of science-meets-paranormal show that pulls you in and keeps you wondering.

In past seasons, the team has investigated urban legends and myths such as the Mothman, UFOs, “cursed” ruins in the Amazon and around the world, werewolves, ghosts, and other mysterious wonders. Season 6 promises to be more of the same adventure and curiosity, but the show is now creating its very own mystery: where is it? Fans usually can watch Discovery shows when they air live, or wait until the next day and find them streaming on Discovery Plus.

But Season 6 Expedition X, honoring the mysterious nature of its subjects, is nowhere to be found on Discovery Plus despite premiering on August 2.

Expedition X Season 6 Is Missing From Discovery Plus: Here’s Why

Frustrated fans have been waiting for nearly a month to watch their favorite, but it’s still missing from Discovery Plus.

Finally, one of the show’s hosts provided some insight. Host Jessica Chobot took to Instagram to explain the missing season to fans and share some of her own frustrations. On August 8, she posted about a two-part episode exploring the Eloise Asylum in Detroit. Jessica wrote, “I’ve heard that the current plan for EX-X streaming on D+ & MAX are thus: to air the season on Discovery first and then make avail on streaming.” The host added that she knows it’s frustrating for many, adding, “if it helps, I’m kind of in the same boat – I can’t watch it till it’s avail on streaming either.”

She explained that there’s nothing she or co-host Phil Torres can do to change the plan, “But we hope you are able to watch and enjoy the show nevertheless.” And despite the hiccup with the streaming delay, fans do seem to be enjoying Season 6. In comments under her post, multiple fans praised the season and thanked her for keeping them updated. Fans who want to watch Season 6 without delay can watch it streaming live on the Discovery Channel or streaming on Discovery Go with a cable subscription.

Let us know what you think about this change of plans for Expedition X Season 6. Is the Discovery Plus delay frustrating? And what are you the most excited about for this season? Sound off in the comments.

  1. This is not the first show they’ve done this to. They did with this season of Ghost Adventures as well. As I still have Spectrum cable with Discovery I can record it or play it on demand if I miss it. It pissed me off so much though that I just cancelled my Discovery+ subscription and if there is anything I want to watch I’ll just us the on demand. At Spectrum. I’ll just save the $6.99.

  2. Discovery Plus needs to correct this. One of the lures to launch Discovery Plus was getting Expedition Unknown and Expedition X as they aired. It was one of their promo lures to get the service. Then it was a bait and switch on the people who bought Discovery Plus. Not good for business.
