On Reddit and other social media platforms, fans are often discussing the Johnston family’s actions. Not all of the comments about the family are negative, though it may seem that way at times. It depends on who fans are talking about and what they’ve done, of course.
Trent and Amber are typically the family members who are under fire. As we’ve reported, fans call them out for their inappropriate comments on the show or for the unfair treatment of their kids. Now, they’re in the spotlight again as fans noticed another issue.
Now, fans are taking a walk down memory lane and recalling a glaringly obvious hypocrisy.
Fans draw attention to Amber & Trent Johnston’s hypocrisy.
One fan recalled, “That time Amber and Trent gave the lilliputian in Coney Island shit for being ‘exploited’ yet they have 15 seasons of a tv show because they are little people.” The Reddit user was baffled by this, pointing out just how obvious it is that this is a double standard.
Another sarcastically added, “A family of little people in inflatable turkey suits wrestling in a pool of jello on tv = non-exploitative and good. Coney Island dude = bad. Duh.”
According to Wikipedia, the Lilliputian Village was “designed as an imitation of a 15th-century German village. It was populated by three hundred little people, who had their own livery tent, stable, laundry, and fire department.” Amber and Trent Johnston took issue with this and called it exploitation. But fans are now arguing that the couple has exploited themselves and their kids on TLC.

The episode in question is Season 6 Episode 3, which aired in 2019.
So far, there have been 13 seasons. The Johnstons have teased that Seasons 14 and 15 are in the works, though TLC has not yet confirmed anything.
In addition to their TLC show, the Johnstons have also gained large social media followings and share frequent updates with fans. Some fans feel that they continue exploiting their family in this way too.
