Guiding Emily Is Based On Barbara Hinske’s Novels

Sarah Drew’s new movie Guiding Emily is based on Barbara Hinske’s series of novels of the same name. However, when Hallmark develops a movie, they have to consider the amount of time they have to tell the story and may whittle some of it down. But, it does appear that this novel is at the heart of this new Hallmark movie.

According to the author’s website, this is the story.

Emily Main had it all: a high-powered career with a leading technology giant and a handsome fiancé bounding up the corporate ladder. Their island wedding and honeymoon were idyllic–until a tragic accident cause her retinas to detach.

Meanwhile, a black lab puppy named Garth fulfills his destiny to become the most esteemed of all creatures: a guide dog.

Guiding Emily is a heartwarming tale of love, loss, and courage as Garth and Emily make their way to each other.
