‘The Masked Singer’ Release Date & Theme Nights Announced
The Masked Singer is coming back very soon and Fox has announced the release date and the new theme nights. This is the 10th season of the popular American version of the singing competition show where celebrities put on masks and perform songs while the judges and fans try to guess their identity.
Here is a look at the new season of The Masked Singer.
The Masked Singer Season 10 news
The Masked Singer Season 10 is scaling things back a little bit. After having 21 contestants in Season 9 and 22 in Season 8, the lineup is scaling back to 16, which matches most of the rest of the seasons. One of the big complaints is that the excess singers have caused mass eliminations in a short time and no one can really enjoy the singers before they leave.
It is unclear if The Masked Singer format will change, but with fewer singers, many fans are hopeful it goes back to single eliminations each night. This would allow the masked celebrities to stick around longer and give fans more of a chance to guess their identity before they go home. That is one of the fun parts of the show.
One thing that won’t change is the theme nights. Instead of just having the singers perform different songs, the recent seasons had them perform songs based on themes. This season includes a wide variety of themes. “Trolls Night” will coincide with the new animated movie, Trolls Band Together. “Harry Potter Night” will take place during Halloween week. The season also features an “Elton John Week,” with only his songs performed. Other themes include “NFL Night,” “Disco,” “One Hit Wonders,” “2000s Night,” “I Wanna Rock,” and “Soundtrack of My Life.”
The Masked Singer Season 10 release date
The Masked Singer Season 10 premieres on Sunday, September 10, at 8/7c on Fox. This premiere follows that Sunday’s NFL football games. This is also three weeks earlier than it was supposed to premiere as Fox moves its schedule around thanks to the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes disrupting the fall television season. The show will then take off until Wednesday, September 27, and air weekly on Wednesdays for the rest of the season.
As mentioned, there will be 16 celebrity singers this year. Fox has announced a few of the costumes so far. They include Donut, Anteater, Hawk, Hibiscus, and S’More. On top of the new celebrities, some of the popular past Masked Singers also plan to return this year for special performances. Bow Wow, Joey Fatone, Rumer Willis, Victor Oladipo, Barry Zito, and Michelle Williams will all return to perform again this year – in and out of costumes.
