Former Counting On star and Duggar daughter Jinger Vuolo is opening up about intimacy following her deconstruction from the IBLP. She has come a long way from her religious upbringing, but until now, she hasn’t shared much about what goes on behind closed doors. Finally, she’s spilling the tea.

Jinger Vuolo’s Strict Upbringing

Growing up as a Duggar meant that Jinger had to adhere to many strict rules about religion, modest dress, gender roles, dating, and other topics. She was raised in the IBLP (Institute of Basic Life Principles), which was founded by Bill Gothard.

However, over the past several years, Jinger has been on a deconstruction journey. She closely examined many of the teachings she grew up believing and challenged them to discover her true beliefs.

Former Counting On Star Describes Intimacy Post-Deconstruction

This week, Jeopardy! host Mayim Bialik released a podcast featuring an interview with Jinger Vuolo. During the interview, Jinger Vuolo opened up about many personal topics relating to her deconstruction. At one point, Mayim asked her how her bedroom activities have changed since she has deconstructed from the IBLP. She mentioned that, in Bill Gothard’s teachings, she was supposed to abstain during her menstrual period.

The Duggar daughter explained that she used to think she was supposed to have as many kids as possible. However, that is no longer her belief. She said, “It’s interesting that shift of, like, coming out of that, it actually provides more…there’s a sweeter sense of like, you’re not like, ‘Oh no, stay away from me because now I know I don’t want to get pregnant right now. I just have a two month old.’”

Jinger Vuolo said she still has a “biblical view” on intimacy when it comes to being faithful to her husband. She also opened up about how she doesn’t feel like she needs to be perfect for Jeremy anymore. She went into detail about how she felt after having her babies and how women don’t always feel confident when they’re not back to their normal size.

The Duggar daughter no longer believes that it’s her responsibility to be joyful and cheerful in order to make sure her husband stays faithful. Before, she would have put that role on herself. But now, she knows that she doesn’t always have to be happy, perfect, and available.
