Jeopardy! Ken Jennings Gets Blasted For Latest Unpopular Move

Ken Jennings has been combating insanely silly answers and online trolls who are coming after him. He has been scrutinized for the most ridiculous things. Yet, he takes it all in stride and tries to let things roll off of his shoulders. That, or he has a snappy answer for almost everything. This makes him human and relatable. For fans of Jeopardy!, Season 40 has a set release date, despite the fact that there are two strikes. It started with the writer strike and now, SAG-AFTRA is on strike. Of course, some fans think the fact that Ken Jennings is still filming is wrong. According to The Sun, the show has continued to film by reusing clues since they are sans writers. Mayim Bialik left while filming Season 39 due to the writer strike leaving Jennings to come back. This made fans really happy but one fan called him out saying: “@KenJennings You’re a disgrace if you’re trying to cross picket lines. Alex [Trebek] would NEVER do anything of the sort. He would turn over his grave seeing you act like that.”

Of course, Ken did not take this lying down. He immediately grabbed a snap of the Sony statement, addressing the strike:

“Jeopardy! has a long history with and tremendous respect for the WGA and our writers. We have always been careful to honor our WGA agreements and we would never air game material not created by WGA writers. However, just as we did, led by Alex Trebek, during the 2007-2008 strike, we will deliver first-run episodes again this fall.”

In Ken fashion, he accentuated the part where it mentioned Trebek to make the real statement. Plus, he was giving the tweeted a true history lesson on the show.

Is This Right?

At this point, is it fair for Jeopardy! to use old material? Here’s how they will be doing it. Apparently, the writers did have stuff in the vault prior to the strike so that is fair game. Then, there will be a Second Chance Tournament to allow contestants another try at what they may have gotten wrong. Mayim Bialik has been in showbusiness since she was a little girl, she is clearly standing firm in solidarity with her people. Ken Jennings is new to the hosting game so he has less at stake. Either way, new episodes are coming and no, Alex Trebek would not be ashamed.
