Good Morning America fans are disgusted with co-host Michael Strahan for what they are calling a trashy promotion.

GMA tries to appeal to a broad range of viewers. They host segments from a variety of different cultural practices. And they offer product promotions that serve endless needs, hoping that they’re catering to their viewer preferences. Unfortunately, a recent promotion seemed to go wrong. Viewers slammed it as “trashy” and Michael caught flack for it.

Michael Implies George Stephanopoulos Has Issues

Michael is no stranger to controversy this week. He stirred some of his own intentionally on Brooke Shields’ podcast, Now What? with Brooke Shields. Brooke asked Michael who the funniest guest was that he had hosted during his time at GMA.

Michael replied that Tiffany Haddish was the guest who had him laughing the hardest. The last time she was on the show, the host explained, she had everyone up out of their seats dancing. Even, Michael marveled, George Stephanopoulos. The famously stoic co-anchor is known for being unflappable on air, and Michael made note of that fact.

He fondly reminisced, “The reason Tiffany Haddish made me laugh so hard was she was all over George Stephanopoulos with the jokes. And she made George actually kind of dance. For George, it was a dance. I know it was.” Michael said that George doesn’t often show his silly side in front of his GMA family. The fact that he let loose made the moment with Tiffany extra memorable. Michael mused that George won’t dance for him. He playfully added, “We will all do a little shimmy, and George will sit there all stoic. And I say, ‘George, you gotta dance!’ He goes, ‘Never, Michael.‘”

Will And Michael Give Hack A Try

Michael Strahan then caused a little more drama when he and Will Reeves decided to try an internet-famous hack.  The two co-hosts decided to try a McDonald’s Sundae hack DIY.

In a pre-taped video, Will was shown driving up to a McDonald’s drive-thru window. He ordered some ice cream and brought it to the studio to try out the internet hack with Michael. The hack, started by two best friends online, involves putting vanilla cones upside down in a small container, smashing them with spoons, and sprinkling them with apple pie and crumbled cookies. Will tried it in his car on his own and then gave it a try alongside Michael in the studio.

GMA Fans Are ‘Disgusted’ With Michael Strahan After ‘Trashy’ Promotion

Michael and Will whipped up the internet DIY and dug in with abandon. They both said that they liked the hack, and appreciated the ingredients separately as well. But fans weren’t digging it as much as the hosts. On GMA’s Instagram, disgruntled fans voiced their thoughts over the segment. One wrote, “I hate when these major outlets give trash this type of attention.” Another boasted, “I did this all my life. Would’ve been famous had I had the internet sooner.” One fan added, “I’m so sick of these so-called Hacks.” Another thought the sundae looked gross, writing, “That doesn’t look appetizing at all.” And yet another fan chimed in, “Proof that media can make something as stupid and irrelevant as this seems like a new idea stop it.”
