Unfortunate news for fans of Days Of Our Lives, which currently streams on NBCUniversal’s Peacock, as the soap opera is taking an unscheduled break. According to Deadline, the production for the soap opera has been immediately shut down amid an ongoing scandal.

What is this scandal that has halted the production of new episodes of Days Of Our Lives? Does this mean there will be a break in the airing of new episodes? Keep reading for all of the details on what’s going on.

Days Of Our Lives: Production Shut Down Amid Scandal

Per Deadline, the production of DOOL has gone dark for at least a week. The outlet explains that filming was originally supposed to kick off on July 31st. The schedule, however, has now been pushed back to August 7th.

Turns out, pushing back the production schedule is connected to the ongoing scandal (and aftermath) involving the alleged misconduct investigation that longtime co-executive producer/director Albert Alarr is currently facing. As Deadline previously reported, there were somewhere in the neighborhood of 30 to 40 people (mostly women) who were interviewed as part of the investigation.

The investigation alleges that made inappropriate comments as well as unwanted physical contact. This contact included forceful kissing and groping which resulted in an extremely toxic work environment.

He Got A Slap On The Wrist

The investigation was reportedly conducted by Sony Pictures Television. Song delivered a report to the producer of the series, Corday Productions. The report was not made public. Albert Alarr reportedly received a warning for his actions and is being required to receive training.

At the end of the investigation, he was able to hang on to his roles as co-EP and director, which upset many members of the staff who argued he was getting a slap on the wrist and the toxic work environment would remain unchanged. Many argue a real investigation should have happened with proper authorities involved as opposed to keeping it “in-house.”

Deadline affirms that Albert Alarr was on the schedule to direct an upcoming episode and that sent the staff into a rage. On record, there hasn’t been an official reason as to why production was halted. But, many suspect the decision was made to get control of the situation before it escalated into something worse than it already was.

Unsurprisingly, many of the staff feel that Albert Alarr should have been terminated for the allegations he is currently facing.

Do you think it was the right decision to halt production of Days Of Our Lives until this scandal resolves itself? Are you disappointed by this unfortunate update? Let us know your thoughts in the comments down below. And, keep coming back for more news and updates on your favorite TV shows.

  1. In the year 2023 if through the investigation the allegations of misconduct were proven true, he should definitely be FIRED! No one should have to work in a toxic environment. Everyone deserves to be respected in the workplace.

    1. This is Horrible!! I have been watching Days of our Lives since I was 9 years old and know I am 50. It’s not right at all that you stop production because someone was abusing thier title he should of been replaced years ago!

  2. Albert Alarr’s actions are repulsive, and disgusting. There should be more respect for the cast, crew, and fans. He should not only be fired, but facing a multitude of charges, and sitting in prison for several years. I love DOOL, and the actors and they deserve to be taken care, because if it wasn’t for them there would be no DOOL. FIRE ALBERT ALARR NOW, and PRESS CHARGES FOR ASSAULT!!

  3. I have been watching this soap since day one. I am 72yrs old and LOVE this show. PLEASE keep it going. I am sure there are plenty of other writers

  4. I watched DOOL since the early ’80s, along with other soaps. Days was always my favorite until it was taken from regular TV stations and put only on Paramount. I pay for cable, I will not, and cannot pay to include Paramount and the other schemes for the big guys to make more money. So needless to say my favorites are Bold and the Beautiful and General Hospital. They have kept loyal to their fans over the years.
Regarding Alarr he should be fired.

  5. Correction -since I don’t have any of these extra pay-for gimmicks, I said Paramount, I meant Peacock.
The best is still on your local stations, Bold and Beautiful and General Hospital!

  6. I have watch days for many years I’m 72 years old and days has always been my favorite, the show was funny, exciting, heartfelt! I am truly disappointed in the writers I don’t know anything about what’s been going on but I do believe that we should have new writers that have respect! for the actors!

  7. This is a disgrace! If this were a woman, she would have been fired immediately. It is really sad that perverts such as this A hole gets away with abusing women. I don’t even know who he is, but I know what he is!!! I have watched this show for many years, and never really paid attention to the names of the writers and/or producers. If I passed him on the street, I would not know it. He belongs behind bars for his crimes!!! I feel sorry for the women he has abused, and especially for the actors on the show. They have families too!!! With the writers’ strike still in effect, this is a super disappointment!!! Life is a B….!
