‘Sister Wives:’ The Real Reason Christine Brown Hated Meri?
So why exactly did Christine Brown hate Meri in the first place?
Onscreen, Christine hinted that she and Meri always had a rocky relationship. However, things really came to a head when Christine decided to leave the family during Season 17. The reality star revealed that she and Meri were no longer on friendly terms and it wasn’t “safe” to keep up a friendship with her.
There are plenty of instances Sister Wives fans think contributed to the rift between the women. But what was the final straw?
What triggered the big blow-up between Meri & Christine Brown?
Sister Wives viewers all know that Meri Brown could be a little harsh with the older children from time to time. But most notably, Meri always seemed to come down hard on Christine’s kids.
Paedon Brown alleged that Meri was an incredibly abusive parent. Others alluded to an intense situation between Meri and Mykelti Brown. But after watching 17 seasons, viewers have opinions about Christine’s final breaking point.
In one Reddit thread entitled, “S4E16 Why Christine must hate Meri,” Sister Wives fans took a deep dive into the ongoing feud between the women. And believe it or not, a lot of the theories do indeed have to do with Christine’s children.
“When Meri got a phone call with the news about Truely‘s kidney failure, Meri just kept cleaning and had no emotional reaction like it was no big dill,” the original Redditor shared on the platform recently. “Through the whole episode it’s apparent that Meri views the situation as just another problem she has to deal with. ‘These are my kids too’ my ass. I don’t blame Christine for completely cutting off Meri.”
A few other Reddit users agreed. However, plenty of others didn’t quite think this was the final straw between Meri and Christine.
For starters, most Redditors agreed that this was a staged scene. Although Sister Wives is reality television, camera crews often stage scenes or have the cast mates reenact moments that the camera crews missed.
Redditors didn’t think that the camera crews could have been there when Christine first called, so they had to reshoot it. In all likelihood, Meri’s disinterest in Truely’s health could just be poor acting.
Redditors offer different opinions on the feud
It’s clear that Christine and Meri Brown have problems and the children factored into it. But some Redditors thought that Meri was more innocent in this scene than the OP seemed to think.
“I don’t know if this is the incident. Cleaning is a way that some people handle stress. [Meri] also was moving her daughter while this was happening so its not like she could stop getting things ready,” another Redditor pointed out. “… So I don’t think it was this incident… I do think it has to do with the kids though. But I saw nothing callous about this situation.”
Other Reddit users chimed in and agreed that the fallout definitely had to do with Christine’s children; it likely all started back in Lehi. However, camera crews can only capture so much. Fans may never know the specific instance that caused Christine to pull away from her former sister wife.
