Honey Boo Boo’s Dad, ‘Sugar Bear’ Thompson, Going To Rehab For Drug Addiction
There has been a shocking update on where Honey Boo Boo’s father Mike ‘Sugar Bear’ Thompson is and what he is doing now. Turns out, Mike ‘Sugar Bear’ Thompson reached out to Lamar Odom this past weekend with an interest in going to one of his rehabilitation facilities. Speaking to TMZ, sources close to Honey Boo Boo’s father confirm he will be checking into Lamar’s facility located in Kansas later this evening (Thursday, July 6th).
Mike ‘Sugar Bear’ Thompson Heads To Rehab, Why?
Unfortunately, Mike ‘Sugar Bear’ Thompson has found himself struggling with an addiction to prescription drugs after receiving treatment for his diabetes. He’s also suffering from both anxiety and depression.
Turns out, Sugar Bear and Lamar Odom first connected last summer and developed a bit of a friendship. This friendship is what encouraged Honey Boo Boo’s father to attend the Gold Bridge Treatment Center in Louisburg.
How Are Things Between Him And Honey Boo Boo?
Unfortunately, Honey Boo Boo’s relationship with Mike Thompson is not in a very good place. TMZ reports sources confirm Alana and Mike have not had much of a connection in more than a year. Likewise, Sugar Bear did not attend Alana’s graduation. Given this new information, some are now speculating his addiction to prescription meds could be why his relationship with Honey Boo Boo suffered.
Mike ‘Sugar Bear’ Thompson, however, does not want to remain on the outs with his daughter Honey Boo Boo. In fact, the source that spoke to TMZ went on to confirm that one of Mike’s end goals after completing his rehab is to reach out to Alana and try to mend their broken relationship.
As fans know, Honey Boo Boo recently received an embrace from her mother for the first time in years. So, fans can only assume there is definitely room in Alana’s heart to mend her relationship with her father as well if she was willing to let her mother back in.
