‘Magnum P.I.’ Cast Goes To War With NBC To Save Series
Fans of Magnum P.I. were NOT happy when they learned of NBC’s decision to axe the series. Turns out, members of the cast are feeling the same heartbreak and they are ready to go to war with the network to save the series.
As both fans and cast members immediately reignite the same #savemagnumPI campaign that compelled NBC to save the series after CBS canceled it, fans are wondering why the network decided to axe the series in the first place. Did the executives regret saving this series considering they are following CBS and canceling it as well? Keep reading for the latest updates on this situation and which cast members are going to war.

Magnum P.I. Cast Goes To War With NBC To Save Series
Martin Martinez, who Magnum P.I. fans know as Cade Jensen is speaking out about NBC’s decision to cancel the show. And, he isn’t happy about it. In fact, the actor has very boldly begged the network to reconsider their decision and hold onto the series for a while longer.
The actor tweeted: “D*mn. Can Magnum P.I. be saved again?” Check out the rest of his tweet down below:
Damn. Can #MagnumPI be saved again?!?
I just wanted to say thank you to the entire team for having me as part of this Ohana, I’ve gotten so many messages on how Cades’ storyline has resonated with so many. Grateful to the cast and crew for the journey. And the LOVE from the fans https://t.co/TDjtZiplFs— Martin Martinez (@itsmartymart) June 24, 2023
Does NBC Regret Saving The Series?
Tv Line sat down with Jeff Bader, NBCUniversal’s President of Program Planning, and asked if the network had any regrets about saving Magnum P.I. about a month before the network ultimately decided to cancel the series. Jeff noted that “everything’s relative” before explaining NBC and CBS just have two different kinds of audiences.
CBS does have a much broader audience, because of the older audience that they get. We have not yet locked in our midseason schedule… but we would love to grow that show. We’re with you that the show should be bigger than it is. It’s a great asset for us.”
Unfortunately, Bader’s interview did nothing to prepare fans for the fact that a decision to cancel the series would be made just a month later. In fact, he claimed the series was pulling in good numbers and was a great asset. Moreover, he said the network wanted the series to grow with them. So, fans were a bit blindsided when a month after this promising interview, NBC decided to cancel the series.

As fans know, there was a very similar situation that happened not too long ago when CBS decided to cancel S.W.A.T. Both the cast and fans were blindsided and heartbroken to learn of this cancellation. The cast and fans banded together and got very loud about the network making a mistake. Ultimately, the decision was reversed and the series was saved.

Now, Magnum P.I. has been saved once before. So, it isn’t too much of a stretch for fans to hope it might happen again. Could the network reverse its decision? Could someone else pick the series up?
Fans are encouraged to use the #savemagnumPI hashtag to let the network know how upset they are about it.
