Netflix Picks Up ‘S.W.A.T.’ Starring Shemar Moore

Fans of CBS’s S.W.A.T. are in for a second helping of good news as Netflix took to social media to announce it was picking up the first five seasons of the series for streaming. When exactly will the first five seasons of S.W.A.T. be available for streaming on Netflix? And, how did this deal happen exactly? Keep reading for the scoop!

Netflix Picks Up S.W.A.T. Starring Shemar Moore

On May 15th, Netflix took to all major social media platforms to announce they were picking up the first five seasons of CBS’s S.W.A.T. The news got even sweeter as the release date for the first five seasons was right around the corner.

“The first five seasons of the hit series S.W.A.T. are coming to Netflix (in The US) on May 17!” Netflix teased in their tweet.

The news came attached to a photo of Shemar Moore dressed up as Sergeant II Daniel “Hondo” Harrelson Jr. from the CBS series.

So, as of today, Netflix subscribers can stream the first five seasons of S.W.A.T. Presently, Season 6 of S.W.A.T. is available for streaming via Paramount+. Likewise, the first few seasons of S.W.A.T. are also available for streaming via Hulu.

The Series Just Got Saved From Cancelation

As fans of S.W.A.T. and Shemar Moore know, CBS made the colossal mistake of canceling the series. Shemar Moore made all kinds of noise on social media and seemingly accused the network of making a racist-field decision. Days later, the network reversed its decision. Unfortunately, this resulted in the cancelation of East New York which was reportedly battling S.W.A.T. for a single time slot.

How Did Netflix Snag S.W.A.T?

Naturally, Netflix snagging streaming rights for S.W.A.T. has subscribers scratching their heads as CBS shows typically move to Paramount+ for streaming. Fortunately, S.W.A.T. is part of CBS’s deal with Netflix.

Will Season 6 Of The Series Hit Netflix?

Naturally, Netflix subscribers already want to know if Season 6 of S.W.A.T. will also be coming to the streaming library. Was Season 6 part of the deal CBS struck with Netflix? Per What’s On Netflix, subscribers have no reason to worry about whether or not Season 6 of S.W.A.T. will hit Netflix. In fact, Season 6 will likely drop in September of this year.
