On June 2, Amazon Prime Video released a new docuseries, Shiny Happy People: Duggar Family Secrets. It examines the Duggar family, their various scandals and controversies, and their religion, the Institute of Basic Life Principles (IBLP). Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar issued a statement, calling the series “derogatory.” However, their daughter, Jill Dillard, was a part of the series and shared her experience.

Most of the Duggar family has been keeping quiet amid this time. Some have disappeared from social media, while others have continued posting positive, lighthearted content.

Justin Duggar’s mother-in-law, Hilary Spivey, seemed to suggest that Jill was lying by telling her story in the docuseries.

Now, another in-law is chiming in.

Ben Seewald’s mom, Guinn, speaks out about the docuseries.

On her Facebook page, Guinn Seewald, Ben’s mother, shared a new post about the docuseries. She included an article about it, which was written and published by G3 MinistriesThe author, Jacob Tanner, who is a pastor, argued, “The IBLP does not represent the whole of Christianity.” Throughout the article, he pointed out the differences between the IBLP and other denominations of Christianity.

While sharing the post, Guinn let her followers know that she appreciated this article and said she found it “insightful and thought-provoking.”

In a comment, Ben Seewald’s mother added more of her thoughts. She said, “Gothard and the pastors exposed in this film are vile and disgusting. They do not represent true biblical Christianity.”
