‘Shiny Happy People Duggar Family Secrets’: Season 2 Free?
Counting On stars Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar have been facing controversies since the release of the docuseries, Shiny Happy People: Duggar Family Secrets. Jill Dillard also followed it up with a book about her difficult past with her parents and the IBLP. But it seems that the documentary’s producer is not done yet with the Duggar family.
Counting On: Shiny Happy People: Duggar Family Secrets Sets Record High
According to reports, Shiny Happy People: Duggar Family Secrets had the most successful debut compared to the other docuseries produced by Amazon Studios. It talked about the controversies revolving around the Counting On family and their connection to the IBLP. The documentary aired on June 2 on Prime Video.
Amazon released some of the episodes on their free streaming platform, Freevee. The Co-Head of Television at Amazon Studios, Vernon Sanders, also revealed that the documentary’s dual-platform debut played a significant role in its massive success.
Season 2 Possible, Will It Feature The Same Format?
Sanders has revealed their plans to keep doing the same format of dual-platform debuts due to the docuseries’ big accomplishment. Prime Video has yet to confirm if there’s going to be another season of Shiny Happy People: Duggar Family Secrets. However, Cori Shepherd Stern, one of the documentary’s executive producers, revealed in a Reddit Q&A that they have bigger plans if they get a second season.
She also encouraged the fans to go to Amazon Prime Video and all of the company’s social media platforms to beg for a renewal. But some fans are curious as to whether Amazon would opt out of the free services and lock the episodes through the paid streaming platform out of greed due to its growing popularity.
Counting On: Producers Aiming For A Different Family Next Season?
Stern shared one of the main factors if the docuseries gets another season. According to the executive producer, they’re interested in covering one of the Duggar family’s friends, the Bates family. They also listen to Gothard’s teachings. It’s unclear when they began following the IBLP. But some fans are curious if they also keep secrets behind the cameras similar to the Duggars.
Additionally, Stern revealed that there was a handful of unused footage from Season 1, and they’re most likely to bring them back in Season 2. Meanwhile, Jim Bob and Michelle have already expressed their disappointment with the documentary. They also felt “sad” to see the media and those with intentions to hurt the people they love.
