Christo Doyle Eulogizes The Flying Wild Alaska Star

Christo Doyle, host of the recently canceled Gold Rush: The Dirt show eulogized the Flying Wild Alaska star. On Twitter he wrote, “I am devastated to hear the news of Jim Tweet’s passing. In my short time working on Flying Wild Alaska with the Twetos, Jim made a huge impression on me. Salt of the Earth guy that loved his family, flying and Alaska. He died doing what he loved. RIP, Jim.”

The Discovery series is one of many that take place in Alaska. Although Flying Wild Alaska only ran for three seasons starting in 2011, this was memorable as it showed the importance of small planes in the huge state. Tweto owned Ravn Air Group. There, the experienced pilot flew around the state with his three pilot daughters, Ariel, Ayla, and Elaine, and his wife Ferno.

Most of all, this series demonstrated how essential small planes were for transporting medical supplies, transporting patients, tourists, and families, and basic survival. Tweto flew to remote destinations in the state that rarely had outside help during the harsh winter.

Also, weather challenges were a big part of the reality documentary series. Regularly, Tweto dealt with such issues as short runways due to extreme snow, or other issues due to ice on the runway or the wings. Rarely were the conditions normal. However, Tweto was a master at overcoming the most extreme conditions.

Currently, there has not been an announcement on the cause of this tragic crash.

On Instagram, Tweet’s daughter Ariel wrote, “I didn’t think anything could hurt this bad.”
