Tori Spelling Discovered REAL Reason Behind ‘90210’ Virginity
Beverly Hills 90210 actress Tori Spelling finally discovered the real reason behind her character Donna Martin remaining a virgin for many years. She now cohosts a podcast with fellow cast mate Jennie Garth. On the most recent episode, the ladies chatted with producer and writer Charles Rosin. Tori Spelling learned the reason Donna was a virgin for so long
On the 9021OMG podcast, Tori Spelling finally found out the reason why her character Donna Martin was a virgin for so many years. She asked Charles Rosin and he confirmed what she had actually suspected for years.
Tori’s father Aaron Spelling who was also a producer was apparently behind the decision to leave his daughter’s character as a virgin. She had always suspected it was her father behind the storyline but was never sure until now.
Rosin said of Aaron, “I remember very clearly when he said to me, you know, that Donna should be a virgin. And it was like, ‘Yes, absolutely she should.’”
The former producer went on to tell Tori that all of the writing staff was immediately on board because it made Donna stand out from everyone else. He said to all of them it just made perfect sense because that is how she would be different from the other cast members.
Rosin went on to say, “You would be dressed, you know, provocatively, stylishly – but it didn’t matter because certainly, if you were, for whatever reason, a virgin at that point, you could dress like that…You could blend in, but not actually be ‘doing the deed’ as it were.”
Donna Martin remained a virgin on the show for seven years.
She was a role model
Tori shared with everyone on the podcast that Donna Martin became someone fans could look up to. Many teens related to her now. Plus, since Donna was a virgin then they felt it was okay for them to remain one as well. She essentially became a role model for teens everywhere. Plus, her character was a fan favorite.
The once-popular virgin television star is now 50 years old. She married Dean McDermott and has five beautiful children. Of course, Tori has gone on to act in many other productions. However, her role as Donna is what made her famous and is still her most memorable performance.
