Interest in a Bojack Horseman revival is at an all-time high after one of the series’ stars recently stated interest in coming back.
Netflix had humble, but critically-successful beginnings with its first handful of shows. Bojack Horseman is one of those titles responsible for the streaming platform’s meteoric rise to original content stardom. The show didn’t quite do the numbers of its competitors House of Cards and Orange is the New Black. But that doesn’t mean it wasn’t successful. By the time the show was over, it had become one of the most successful adult animation series of all time. It had multiple Emmy nominations and four Critics’ Choice Awards. And some fans believe the show put out its finale a little prematurely. So is there a chance it could come back?
Bojack Horseman Revival?
Interest in Bojack Horseman making a seventh season has been around for some time. It became apparent to the fans that the show could have been longer after comments from creator Raphael Bob-Waksberg implicated that Netflix pulled the plug on the show early. Ever since there have been calls for a revival. Princess Carolyn voice actor Amy Sedaris is now a part of those calls.
Sedaris’ interest in returning as Princess Carolyn comes from a recent interview with ComicBook.com.
“You really do want to see them again,” she said in reference to the characters of Bojack Horseman. “Like I felt that way with Strangers With Candy, but you always kind of do want a reunion type show, especially if it took place in a high school because there are 10-year and 20-year anniversaries. But you do want to, you invest so much into these characters and you’re always like, ‘Well, where are they?'”
New Netflix
Once upon a time, Netflix was a platform that was actually known for bringing shows with passionate fanbases back. One of the early draws for many customers to the streamer was its airing of new Arrested Development seasons. Arrested Development, ironically enough, was also a show which initially ended prematurely despite critical acclaim. The signal, then, seems abundantly clear to veteran Netflix subscribers. The platform that was once the solution to broadcast TV has now become essentially one and the same. The future of Bojack Horseman may be sealed regardless of fan outcry.
The platform isn’t without critically successful content in 2023, of course. Shows like The Umbrella Academy, Black Mirror, and Sweet Tooth continue to give Netflix credibility as a show provider.
All six seasons of Bojack Horseman are available for streaming on Netflix now.
