The RHONY Legacy series is back but it comes with a twist. Fans were really upset when Season 13 ended without a reunion and no closure. Then, it was revealed that the show would be split into two parts. One was a group of brand-new New York housewives and the other would be a legacy season. The latter ended up getting halted and it was any wonder if they would get back on track. Now, they have and it is returning with a twist. Who is part of the legacy cast and what are they doing to spice things up? Read on for more details.

RHONY Legacy Gets A Twist, See The Returning Cast

When RHONY ended after Season 13, there were so many rumors as to why there was no reunion. There were allegations that OG Ramona Singer exhibited racist behavior per TMZ. Apparently, newcomer Eboni K. Williams had filed a complaint against Singer. Though Ramona was let off the hook after the cast and crew were spoken to, it was too late. A reunion would not have made any sense and the fate of RHONY was up in the air. This was back in October 2021. Then, it was decided to split the New York housewives into two parts. They wanted to refresh the show and add new women to the series.

Of course, Bravo knew that the fans liked some of the OGs and classic cast so the idea of a legacy series was also pitched. Sadly, it seemed like contract negotiations may have halted that. At BravoCon 2022, the new RHONY cast was introduced with one lady dropping out early into filming. Fans still held out hope that the OGs would come back and a RHUGT-style show was pitched. The new group of gals will debut in July but Ramona Singer teased big legacy news for Monday, May 15th. She was not lying.

Peacock revealed that RHUGT5 will be all classic RHONY cast members. It will star Kelly Bensimon, Kristen Taekman, Sonja Morgan, Ramona Singer, Luann De Lesseps, and Dorinda Medley. Dorinda was last seen as the not-so-friendly hostess on RHUGT2 who reiterated that she was “put on pause” by Andy Cohen. Luann and Sonja have their own spinoff coming to Peacock in July while Ramona claimed she was moving on from the series. Kelly was last seen in Season 4 then made guest appearances while Kristen left after Season 7 and has been modeling in LA.

Fans React

So, how are fans feeling about this RHONY news? Some were not thrilled with the casting. “Kristen over Aviva?????? No Tinsley??? What is happening Bravo,” one asked. Another added: “God I really wish they had Carol and Aviva.” Though many seemed pretty satisfied with who was coming aboard, they would have chosen Tinsley over Kristen. Then again, this may not be a one-time thing so time will tell if another trip will bring more ladies together. First, however, fans will have to get through RHUGT4 which had a lot of drama.
