Al Roker recently had knee surgery and now he is sharing with fans when he will return to the Today show. The viewers love seeing him and are also glad that he gave an update on how he is doing now.

Al Roker Update

Al Roker shared how he is doing after his recent knee surgery and it sounds like he is healing pretty well. On Monday, he appeared on the Today show virtually to talk to everyone. He isn’t back on the actual show just yet, though. Roker had his surgery on May 9. On Saturday, May 6, he took a last little walk outside enjoying the weather, and shared with fans.

Roker shared that he was home from the hospital already. He still feels “stiff” and went on to give an update. Al Roker said, “This one is a little more complicated because it’s what they call a revision; it was a replacement of a replacement, so they had to take stuff out, put stuff in, so it was a bit of a bear. So we’ve just been kind of hanging out. Chilling out, not doing anything — which I know, a lot of people find hard to believe, but in fact, that is the case.”

When Does Al Return?

It turns out that Al Roker won’t be gone that long from Today. He actually plans to return in as little as two weeks if he is feeling up to it. Right now, he is doing physical therapy three times a week, but he doesn’t think that will keep him from coming back to work.

So what is he doing in his downtime? Well, his son Nick is home from college so Al is getting to spend some extra time with him. He has also been catching up on television shows. Roker revealed that he likes to watch Mrs. Davis,The Madalorian, and Poker Face. This is giving him the time to get caught up.

Al also wanted to go out for Mother’s Day, but he wasn’t really feeling up to it yet. He shared details.

“I was being wildly optimistic that we were going to go to one of our [favorite restaurants], Daniel, for Mother’s Day, which is kind of our tradition. But that was not realistic, so we ordered in some quiche and some stuff and just had a nice meal in the backyard here. Which was nice, because it was a gorgeous day yesterday.”

  1. I would like to see him retire from the Today show. I am tired of his old jokes and butting in when others are talking. I see all of his fancy glasses he wears and think of all the children that need glasses and can’t afford them. Lastly I think it’s time for Dylan to do the weather.
