Kevin Costner’s Wife Christine Baumgartner Files For Divorce
On Tuesday, TMZ reported that Christine Costner filed for divorce from her husband Kevin Costner on Monday. The couple were married 18 years ago, at his Aspen ranch. The news outlet reported that in the documents, she cites “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for the divorce.
Also, in the court documents, the 49-year-old spouse of the award-winning actor asked for joint custody of their children. The couple shares three children, ages 12, 14, and 15.
According to the Yellowstone star’s rep, “It is with great sadness that circumstances beyond his control have transpired which have resulted in Mr. Costner having to participate in a dissolution of marriage action. We ask that his, Christine’s, and their children’s privacy be respected as they navigate this difficult time.”
Kevin responded via famed divorce attorney Laura Wasser. In that response to his estranged wife’s divorce filing, the actor also asked for joint custody of their three children.
Was There A Prenup?
Many Yellowstone fans may wonder whether or not there was a prenup before their 2004 wedding. We have that answer, thanks to Wasser’s response. “Spousal support to be payable to petitioner pursuant to the terms of the parties’ Premarital Agreement.”
That means that the former couple had already settled terms of spousal support in their prenup.

Kevin Costner And Christine Baumgartner Dated Six Years Before Marriage
According to People, Kevin Costner and his now estranged wife met nearly a decade before they married on a golf course. A few years later, after he committed a major dating faux pas of asking for her number and not calling for two weeks, they dated six years before she gave him the ultimatum.
Costner revealed the pivotal moment, “Finally, there came a moment where maybe this doesn’t go forward” Then he admitted that fear gave way to committing despite their nearly 20-year age difference. “I’m not going to lose her because I’m afraid.”
Part of that commitment meant he agreed to start a family, as she told him it was part of the deal. “f you’re going to be with me, you need to know that kids are at the end of the road for me with you if that’s going to happen.”
After they married, they had three children Cayden, Hayes, and Grace. Costner also has four children from his first marriage and another relationship. This includes Annie, Lily, Joe, and Liam.
Kevin Costner Has Been In The Midst Of Controversy On Yellowstone Set
Yellowstone fans have been on pins and needles since February. That was when it was revealed that there was chaos on the set of the hit Taylor Sheridan series. Paramount has revealed that Kevin Costner has only been available to work for about a week. This is not enough for the remainder of Season 5 which will be six episodes long. However, his lawyer Marty Singer calls these claims “lies.”
Meanwhile, Costner has been in Utah filming his three-movie dream project Horizon.
There is no news on when Yellowstone will be back filming, with or without Kevin Costner. Subsequently, at this time, the family has asked for privacy.
